Points in the right times helps the teams win. You can score 30 points and it’s meaningless as it comes to winning the chip. You look great. But, will get ridiculed on why you never led a team to a chip with that much talent. It’s only gotten like that because of media. @@deelewis8061 I agree. Like lebron had 26 in game 2 against the nuggets with some big buckets down the stretch. BUT with a wide open 3 with 15 seconds on the clock. He didn’t have to shot right then, he won chips passing that shot. But 1 bucket was the difference in the game. Not the refs not the 7 three Dlo had already but 1 shot.

@@patsnation1402 That is NOT the players fault. Taking open 3's over easy 2's came about because of statisticians entering into the game. Over a large enough sample size an open 3 is better than an open easy 2. The math works out that way. As longest you reach a specific range of 3 percentage it is worth it statistically. The players did not one day say, let's drain these 3's for the highlights-- they were given the greenlight in basketballs sort of Moneyball era.

My thoughts: Too much specialization at too early an age: Playing other sports, utilizing other muscles and skill sets, was natural cross training. Too much play via AAU: Too much court time because of AAU during the summers. There is no offseason to actually rest. Mental burnout leading to physical burnout: By the time these youngsters get to the league they’ve already been playing 15-20 years of basketball and many of those years with injuries. Highlight culture: It’s hard for me to watch basketball these days because everyone wants to show off their bag rather than take a simple shot. I’ve seen a player dribble a for 15 seconds when he could’ve gotten his shot off within the first 10 seconds several times.

Harden was advised and successful going to the 3 - Morey’s Analytic Rockers + Harden had bought in. Ultimately, Kobe was right; this play style doesn’t win

Same way they say the mid range is poor percentage but the greatest scorers strive in mid range: MJ, Kobe, KD, Devin, Kawhi, need I say more.

The best education podcast yet. Thanks for calling a spade a spade. Everybody think they a big jokes but they all hearts and diamonds and it created cheat codes that hurt the game and players. This why it is no PRO ready players anymore but they okay with the emoji’s and likes on media 🤦🏾‍♂️

The irony of McCants at the 10:30 mark. Says "a bucket is a bucket" but then penalizes players for not scoring the way Kobe did.

He really was tho. There weren’t many of the Tyrese maxey/jalen Brunson/gilbert arenas combo guards back then it was primarily Gil. Mccants coming out of college his ceiling was seen as an undersized 2 version of Gil with less ball handling more athleticism
