No because Gil wasn’t someone who talked shyt, he just balled. Kobe wasn’t a hood dude, but he acted like one on court. So lesser talented players who were habitual line steppers like McCants or Matt Barnes would talk their shyt trying to intimidate (then get cooked). Famous music exec Steve Stoute was on Club Shay Shay. He told a story that a known killer in NYC threatened him outside a club. Young Kobe walks up and stand next to Steve like “what’s up”. So because Kobe lived in Italy, then the suburbs outside of Philly, he wasn’t soft. No he wanted all the smoke from these hood ninjas. That’s why he as at Rucker Park in Harlem talking shyt to dudes on the court and cooking them. I’ve seen playground dudes at Rucker or Drew League who aren’t even in the NBA like Rashad was, talk shyt to All Stars who are playing. Some dudes don’t GAF. All those names Rashad, Gil and McCants mentioned, weren’t All Stars. You ninjas think like groupie chicks.

McCants played about 4 seasons. His best season he averaged 15 ppg. When he was healthy and got playing time, he was productive. Coaches didn’t like him and it’s easy to see why, he admits he has control issues. Unless you’re an MJ, Luka, Kobe or Iverson level talent, you can constantly buck coaches authority. You will get black balled from the NBA. Even future HOFers like Carmelo later in his career was getting blackballed and haters kept bringing up his lack of defense. No a lot of NBA coaches and exec didn’t like Melo. Dude averaged high teens his last year in OKC, so that’s cap. Like clowns said Kaepernick wasn’t getting resigned, strictly based of performance. Yet inferior QBs like Jay Cutler got a new contract. With Melo, it took Dame to push Portland to sign him. If someone like Carmelo can eventually get blackballed, a dude like McCants is short work.

McCants was bussing down Khloe Kardashian before Lamar Odom. I remember him in a picture with her, wearing some army officer jacket looking drip. He topper out at 15 ppg the season, he got his most playing time. McCants admittedly didn’t want to play the politics game, so that backfired on him and he was out the league. Especially after an injury and he hadn’t locked in a multi-year contract. Gil said part of why Abe Pollin gave him a big contract, was because he liked him. He f*cked with Gil and so he got a bag. McCants had the pure talent to play and excel in the NBA. Could have been a 6/7th man scorer off the bench with the right team, like a Lou Will. But Lou is an easy going dude, who coachable. That’s why he lasted so long. McCants was a scorer. His UNC teammate Raymond Felton said he’s the best pure scorer he’s ever played with college or NBA. Felton had a better career, because he was more coachable and likable to the right people. Unless you’re MJ, Kobe or Shaq being an azzhole in the NBA doesn’t work well long term. Still doesn’t mean bro couldn’t hoop.

McCants wasn’t that nice in the nba level. His ego and production didn’t match. That is why he is out the league. If he was on Lou’s level of production he would have lasted longer. Now I agree if he had a better attitude he would have made it longer.
