This brother is like my Father and my Uncle. He's like a friend when your in need. He's just amazing. His music gets me through literally. I listen to his songs every single day. He lives on through me. Like everyday I play his music as I lay these tiles and carpet traveling the east cost working these hotels. It's almost like it's the 80's and he's still on tour. I'm only 32 and there was an old vet named Anthony Lambright from Martinsburg WV that put me on to his music when I was passing through and I've been listening to him ever since. Thank you Anthony.

One of America's greatest poets....living or dead. I've been listening to Gil since the 1970's. He hasn't made a bad record or a misstep in his long impressive career. His record THE OTHER SIDE (A take on his HOME IS WHERE THE HATREDT IS) makes me cry....every time....and I ain't no flower. Him....well into his sixties or nearly 70 telling us about addiction...from experience. Me, on the wromg side of 60, experienced...and addicted, hears the anguish in his voice and I am moved....to tears. Oh Gil, I hear you. always have. R.I.P. (rap in paradise) my friend....my teacher...my brother. Rest well, Someone here on KZbin once wrote "we stand on your sholders Gil." I, for one , do not....I stand in your shadow Gil, in awe.

He was too revolutionary for the times when is early recordings came out, and "the system" gave him hell. I hope young and older people find their way to his recordings at some point in their lives. He spoke and sang to make the world a better place, but society fustrated his every attempt. It's is out of thanks that I listen to Gil.

Dieser wunderbare Künstler hat mehr Herzen berührt und Gutes getan als alle heuchlerischen Moralapostel, die ihn zeitlebens zu zerbrechen versucht haben, zusammen. This is history and a perspective that is genuine. It articulates a sense of place which has not necesssarily lived up to expectations, is dissolute with it and wishes to be removed from it with progress, where material for that progress however is not provided and so dissolves into a dream, its a moment, dont make it a lifetime, its over.
