Hiro Mashima the author of Fairy Tail was the assistant of Eiichiro Oda the author of One Piece.

He never was an assistant to oda, in fact he never assisted anyone. His first manga launched at the same time as one piece. The only similarity is that they both were inspired by toriyama. This is a fake rumor which mashima himself has refuted many times
