Warren's bike is recovered, it needs a new lock set and an exhaust which is on order. The dna is looking great in the next vid, it's up and running beautifully. Currently waiting on a new speedo drive from Germany and I'll do bits and pieces of paint here and there but otherwise it's very close to being ready for the road. Please like and subscribe

Great video mate. Still finding it hard to believe you can make a dna reliable though 🤣

I know right. I think the better carb should go a long way towards this. One of the biggest issues with the dna is that the fuel pump sits below the carb so has to be pumped up hill. This system is currently working well I believe. The last issue is that people used rubbish cooling fluid and I've put in great stuff, so I expect this to be more reliable then the original. I've ordered a new speedo drive from Germany so that's a common fault aswell. The original part should last a while. So all in all it should be a great bike. I'll clean the variator aswell and possibly buy slightly lighter rollers.

Did you ever get to check the valve clearances on this bike? I'm trying to figure out a way to get under the rocker cover without separating the engine from the frame.
@motorcyclerescuer9 ай бұрын
Yes your right that dropping the engine is the only way to do them. It's a right pain. You will have to separate a little. You may be able to keep it close and the wires attached

Managed to check and adjust valve clearances without dismounting the engine as of this evening, mainly involving taking off the fake tank/storage box, disconnecting the rear shocks and putting a jack under the frame/swingarm pivot point, lifting the middle of the bike with wheels still touching ground. This made the top of the engine face more upright and I was able to remove the valve cover bolts with a ratchet handle and long 8mm socket. I think this would be very difficult for anyone with particularly large hands or wrists because the space is still quite limited. Initially intake valves were way too tight, even on the 0.08mm feeler gauge it was quite grabby and tight. Exhaust valves weren't as bad but still way too tight. Engine runs smoother and less strained now that I adjusted them to 0.1 and 0.15mm respectively with the feeler gauges sliding smooth with a bit of resistance but no grabbing/binding is what i was really going for

I’m having trouble with my electrical starter , did you find the cause of the loose wire you was trying to fix to get it going ???
@motorcyclerescuer2 жыл бұрын
I can't remember if I'm being honest, you would have to watch the next couple of vids to determine that. Normally if you have a bad starter it could be a bad battery, wiring, brake light switches as these are needed to start the bike, earthing or a bad starter itself. I would make sure the battery is fully charged first if I was you and check that the brake lights are working when you press the levers. Also try starting the bike with both brakes pulled in

What upgraded carb have you used?

It's the original I used in the end for the best results.
