Hi everyone, what’s your go to ball striking swing thought?

Left shoulder down & round. Trouble is I too often realise after the shot I was thinking no such thing!

@@barryspicer7949 so if you struggle with the left shoulder working down in transition make sure you have enough tilt/side bend in both the upper body & pelvis at the top of the backswing

During the downswing.. Weight shifting forward, left pocket of the pants goes up and back behind me, out of the way. (facilitates rotation). Second one, imagine the butt-end of the grip is a nail, and the target is the board.. Get that handle forward without releasing early and hammer that nail into the board. (facilitates holding lag).

Excellent explanation and demonstration Giles on the 3 KEYS to consistent ball striking! My main interest in this video was the release of the iron and driver, which I'm apprehensive in doing at times. I really liked the stick extension to the clubs to emphasize the movement. I will definitely be using this drill! Good Job Giles!

One further comment, Giles. Too many instructors parcel out information that applies only to the driver or the irons. THIS APPLIES TO BOTH!! No more information that helps one and damages the other. How many times have instructors told us that the driver swing and iron swing are two separate swings? Not Now!! That dichotomy in thinking has been the bane of the amateur golfer since time began. Not any more. As I stared before. You are the best instructor in the world. Hands down.

They are the same basic template but you just have to know the variables that change between a driver and an iron

At the top of the backswing, are you pulling on the handle of the club or just starting the downswing with your body rotation? I think, that I am pulling too much on the club, so that the club is overtaking my hands at impact. So the question is: How to initiate the downswing correctly and how to avoid that the club is overtaking the hands at impact. Thanks for your videos and feedback!
@Gilesgillgolf

Steve Tierney is spot on in his comment. It will be a sad day when the public no longer has access to this content!! Hopefully, that will be well into the future. I love how you emphasize OVER EXAGGERATION with better effect than any instructor on the planet. It is the only way to achieve "The Goldilocks Result." To go from "too hot" or "too cold" to just right. Again, the way you convey this is different than any other teacher I've seen. They have you believe that it is left arm based and left side dominant. It obviously is not!! By controlling the movement of the right hand and right side moving well ahead of the ball, everything else comes along for the ride. Both sides arrive at a perfect position. YOU ARE THE ONLY INSTRUCTOR IVE SEEN THAT EXPLAINS IT IN THIS MANNER. And so clearly. This is another perfect example of how one move perfectly mastered makes everything else fall into place. I've seen them all from David Leadbetter to Butch Harmon. You are the best golf instructor I've ever seen. Not top 100. Top one!! Open and shut case.

Do a video where you take these 3 keys and show how they apply to the driver or woods. What adjustments to them are necessary to keep from hitting the ground before you hit the ball. The old tilt back and hit up causes missing the ball entirely, and the same swing as used for irons hitting a descending blow causes hitting the ground either before or simultaneously as the ball strike. So is the key the depth of the shoulder turn, a flatter turn both backswing and downswing or what?
@Gilesgillgolf
@Gilesgillgolf Жыл бұрын
Do all this with driver as well. Same keys but a large amount out the changes occur due to the setup. Be sure to check out my complete driver guide!
