New information continues to come out about the Gilgo Beach murders suspect Rex Heuermann. We learned that his wife, Asa Ellerup, has filed for divorce. This comes as authorities are searching other properties owned by Heuermann, in hopes of uncovering more evidence. I watched another news broadcast where they said she and her daughter felt embarrassed and horrified by what he's done. They didn't even question the charges against him, which says a lot. That says a lot because usually these serial killers are able to manipulate their wives and children into believing they're innocent for years, so for her to immediately file for divorce that means everything she's learned about the evidence against him she knows he did it even though he was slick and would go hunting for victims whenever his wife was out of town. He had a lot of discipline which many serial killers lack they usually become too impulsive and would do things when their wives are home and make up excuses to go out. He owns multiple properties, owned his own architecture firm etc. What qualifies for him to take further advantage of Suffolk County resources to be provided a public defender? Anything he earned or bought after they married, with no prenuptial agreement. Is community property and she can take it all under these circumstances. If she can show emotional distress, a judge will likely give her everything they legally can. If he is capable of feeling love, he will probably give her and the kids everything anyway, instead of seeing it all go to he lawyers and state. This is going to be a long drawn out situation for the wife. It will take a long time before any property can be sold based off of the size of this investigation. Plus finding buyers w this man’s association to it will drag out finding buyers. PLUS there is an IRS unpaid bill of over $400,000. My guess is the wife is also tied to that IRS debt. Yes, victims families do have a right to any money that can be had but my question is that before any divorce settlement or after? The charges came before any divorce!

It’s possible she distracted herself from the misery of the marriage with these things. I hope she goes back to Iceland and puts this behind her eventually.

He definitely has other victims out there, even more than the ones in Long Island he hasn't been charged with. There's no way he just did all the Long Island ones & stopped. I mean they arrested him when they did bc they thought he was about to kill again. Somewhere there are other victims in the US. Glad they're looking into all properties.

Feel so bad for her. Saw a picture of her today wearing winter clothes and boots in 100 degee weather. Probably had to leave with only the clothes on her back and she was on food stamps. Yeah, the brother went across the street and hit the neighbor in the back of the head with a steel pole for mowing his grass on a Sunday. And then another neighbor said that he found one of the neighborhood dogs and took it to the vet and paid for the vet bills. So who knows.

I feel terrible for his family as well as the victims and their families and friends. His soon to be ex-wife is incredible for accepting the evidence and filing for divorce instantly. The fact that it's uncontested is interesting to me. The fact no one knew or suspected anything, means he was a highly organised killer - what I know so far, he's exactly who I suspected he would be.
