We all know that the way lectures are presented here is way way far better (or in today's slang "it's insane") than in college or university settings. Thus, we subscribe to reciprocate the benefits we are getting. Bravo ! 👏👏

Let's assume the rate at which the first pump can fill the tank is R tank/hour. From the given information, we can set up the following equations: First pump's rate: 1 pump can fill the tank in 16 hours, so its rate is 1/16 tank/hour. Two pumps' rate: 2 pumps can fill the tank in 6 hours, so their combined rate is 2/6 tank/hour, which simplifies to 1/3 tank/hour. Let's denote the rate of the other pump as R' tank/hour. Now, if we add the rates of the two pumps, we get the combined rate when both pumps are working together: (R + R') tank/hour = 1/3 tank/hour We also know the rate of the first pump alone: R tank/hour = 1/16 tank/hour Since the rate of the first pump alone is known, we can subtract it from the combined rate to find the rate of the other pump: R' tank/hour = (1/3 - 1/16) tank/hour R' tank/hour = (16/48 - 3/48) tank/hour R' tank/hour = (13/48) tank/hour Therefore, the other pump can fill the tank at a rate of 13/48 tank per hour or 3.692 hours.
