How long does the gel/gel coating if it has any stay on at the top of the razor? after some search i think theyre called "lubrastrips". For example do they stay for like 3-4 shaves only or more if it has any like the blue/green coating of gel you find on the top of fusion power/proglide blades ?. Ive found that fusion/proglide blades only last 3-4 shaves or so at best with a gel coating on which kinda sucks as it does give a burning feel once it wears off on the 5th or 6th shave and upwards, ive even found torn parts on the top where it is on proglide shaves after those 3-4 shaves meaning its not great to use after that amount.

I was on a roll with my old injector but my angle somehow has been off in certain shaves and it's given me itchy bumps on my neck on some days. Hey Todd - I’m just seeing a bunch of comments come through from over a year ago - must have been a YT glitch. How’s the shave going with SKINGUARD?

@@averageguytested Hi and no problem! The Skinguard ended up being hit and miss. As time as gone by I also tried electric shaving with a Braun series 7 and 9, which my face started to agree with after about a month. But as a shaving enthusiast I am back with DE shaving too, and found a combo of razor and blade that has given me amazing results. I haven't had a shaving bump since February. The Edwin Jagger DE89 is surprisingly an amazing shaver, but I underrated it and it sat neglected in my stash since 2014. In February I tried it with a Gillette Nacet blade and it was heaven all along the way. Still enjoying this combo. Thanks for asking! I post my great shaves on my blog: lliverpizza.wordpress.com

I have leukaemia and am on a very effective targeted medication, but I’m getting one irritating side effect....very slow-to-heal infections around hair follicles, particularly if I’ve nicked the skin because of an ingrown hair. Because I’m very prone to ingrown hairs, particularly on my neck....it’s a bit of a vicious circle right now. I just used this cartridge, after about 4 days of not shaving, and I am VERY impressed. I’m 69 years old and have used a lot of different razors. Most recently Gillette’s fusion, with a power handle. With a 5 blade cartridge I could never decide if the power was a gimmick or a legitimate feature, but I like the fat handle and the weight with a battery installed. The only place the skinguard cartridge didn’t want to shave as closely as I wanted was under my chin, so I turned on the power....with this cartridge it is NOT a gimmick, those stubborn whiskers were gone in a pass. Yes, it probably costs more for a cartridge than it should, I’d obviously prefer the cost to be lower, but no other company did the research and development needed to bring this to market, so I’ll happily pay the price. Judging by how well this first shave went, at the very least, this is going to significantly lessen my problem. And, I still got a very nice shave... I can feel a tiny bit of stubble, if I rub against the grain....to me this is exactly what I need. Thank you, Gillette.

I used it in a 3 pass 15 minute shave, which is time I don't have, and I went a day and half until I felt it was time to shave again. If you are one to shave daily I think this will be a good product for you. I feel the Proglide cartridges are better than these because I don't see stubble for over 24 hrs w/ the Proglide, but when my beard is growing back I get much less sensitivity after using the Skinguard. Gillette was offering free samples on their site; a handle & cartridge. See if they're still offering it.

SKINGUARD is like a poor man’s One Blade. It may be worth it if you suffer from ingrown hairs, but I find it to be a frustrating shave.
@Alex007895 жыл бұрын
@@averageguytested Thanks. I am a wet shaver, but I was thinking of buying the Remington DuraBlade(because you don't want have to replace the blade), even though from your review the Philips OneBlade shaves closer then the DuraBlade.
@averageguytested5 жыл бұрын
One Blade is awesome, but DURABLADE is a fine alternative if you plan to use your traditional blade too. What I like is how these hybrid razors provide a worry and nick free removal of long stubble.

Hey I was just wondering. You say go with the grain. Is there any harm in going against the grain the first pass to get the closest shave quickly ? I have this razor and always go against the grain ..works like it should :-)
@averageguytested4 жыл бұрын
No. Go for it. 👍🏽 the first pass of the multi- pass technique is with the grain - but for a quick go you will get the best results going against as you mentioned.

Like you demonstrate, Gillette makes a good razor. We know this. But I'd still rather have a few more ingrown hairs and be less disappointed in my razor provider's marketing team. That female-directed Best A Man Can Be series was absolutely absurd. I am glad they are putting out new products, but mostly so other up-and-coming companies can follow suit and start winning some market share. I prefer supporting underdogs anyway, and so we have switched. All that said, I hope whoever wins your razor is happy with it! It definitely looks like a great product!

Glad to see another shaving video, Tony. I really love your review videos because you take the "every man" approach. This razor feels very similar to the Schick Hydro 5 razor, even though the Schick has 5 blades. Both do not give the closest shave, but it is very difficult to cut yourself, and there is no razor burn. I live in Edmonton, and in January/February it is -25 degrees celsius with a humidity of 15%, so I do not want a close shave or else my skin will dry out, even with moisturizer.

I had high hopes for this product, but after using the new Skinguard razor by Gillette for 67 days. I can say this product is a failure for black men with razor bump issues. I'm 56 and I stopped using a razor for shaving when I was 20. Magic Shave was and still is the answer for me. I can use the Skinguard razor for my face but not for my neck. I got frequent razor bump breakouts on my neck and the itching can just be unbearable. I went back to using Magic Shave on just my neck area and my skin is back to normal, no razor bump breakouts and the itching is gone. My skin is clear again. I had high hopes for the Skinguard razor, but it is an expensive dud.
