Had no idea who she was until stumbled on Love. Really gorgeous in every outfit or set up. Even just at the apt., where Gus is killing the bugs she’s is so pretty, then she gets made for the Magic Castle and is stunning, or the Work Party or the Wedding or just as they are driving to Gus’ parents house, she’s really striking regardless of the look. And nailed that really bi-polar, to put it mildly, Mickey Dobbs.

This is so unfair that a show as brilliant as Community (at least the first 3 seasons) had such a low budget and Love, which is pretty mediocre, has a much much higher one. Just goes to show what mediocre taste the masses have, huh.
@GuySocket5 жыл бұрын
Really? Because I would say Community is for the masses of it's time period full of "let's do a millionth hipstery self-referential joke and reference how self-referential we are." It tried extremely hard to be too cool for school but really it was vapid full of cartoony one note characters and the same old sitcom stories. It started of well but deteriorated quickly even before the first season was over. Jacob's character was about the only thing that was worth anything by the end of first season. Chevy Chase was right about them ruining the show by making it another shitty romcom. Love on the other hand is about two messed up unlikable and irredeemable characters whose sanity is questionable. It was entirely about how flawed everybody was and it wasn't afraid to make its audience uncomfortable by having them reflect on themselves through the characters. It was far from palatable for the mass audience. In fact, that's why I didn't like that show. It went too far in the other direction for my tastes but at least I appreciated that it was artistically brave whereas Community chickened out before the first season was over.
@henryleyden29174 жыл бұрын
GuySocket I enjoyed community for what it was and I think it did things that most romcoms definitely do not do. But I agree with what you said about love at least that it is about complex characters and more centered on a realistic although dramatized relationship. I loved love, but for the reasons you said I can understand why it doesn’t appeal to all. I disagree with what the first person said tho. Gillian does a great job playing a Teo very different roles in both series
@obalobaloo4 жыл бұрын
@@GuySocket That's the hottest take on Community I've ever seen lmao. The first season was way more of a typical sitcom than subsequent seasons so I'm not sure where you got that idea from. Community continually pushed the envelope by placing the characters in insane situations while still retaining an emotional core to develop the characters. Same old sitcom stories? Yeah, I remember that episode of Seinfeld where they had a massive paintball fight shot like a war movie. Or that episode of Friends where they parodied product placement by having a character named Subway. Or that episode of Cheers where the same scenario played out in six different timelines. God, can't they come up with anything original? To me, Love was much less artistically brave than community. There are way too many "slice of life" comedies nowadays, and they've just gotten so stale. It had its moments, but didn't really have any satisfying storytelling, and its last season was just embarrassingly bad. The ending was soooo rushed and did a massive disservice to the characters by giving them a happy ending despite them being terrible for each other. It just sort of meandered around until it was over, there really wasn't anything special about that show to speak of. The characters were pretty well developed, but the stories were so snooze inducing that I just didn't care.
@Alic44444 жыл бұрын
@@obalobaloo The entire point of the show (Love) was character development. Not everyone likes character centered stories: some people prefer paintball. Personally I really enjoyed both shows. But it's not a rare idea that the best, most human stories are character driven rather than plot driven, or gimmick/gag/parody driven. If that's not in your lane, no problem. But it sounds strange to list as a flaw that something is focused on its "well developed" characters.

I really loved Britta in Community, and so I tried ''Love'', checked it out, the first episode... Which was just so bad! And not just because of her; heck, her character is ok at least, but the other lead, such an a**hole, I couldn't stand him! Someone tell me if the male lead gets likeable eventually? Is the show getting better in later episodes? I've been rewatching some Community recently, and MAYBE I could give ''Love'' another shot, but I'm really not sure...
