THANK YOU for teaching me all about the cardinal. This is the 1st time I ever learn anything about ANY bird! I’m 56, I witnessed a beautiful Cardinal in my back yard, so I found a bag of Cardinal food (seeds with mealworms), at Lowe’s Home Improvement, that’s supposed to attract them, buuut, the squirrels kept eating the block of seeds that I put out on top of my bird house! (As fast as I would put it out, they would devour it.!). 😳😂 …So your video has shown me what not to do and what to do! I never realized how squirrels love bird seeds and meal worms! 🤣🤣. I know. I’m a dummy. But thanks for this video. I’m learning!…have a great day! Greetings from New Orleans.

We have a family of cardinals and mockingbirds that have been here several years now. They all sing to me and I sing back. I truly believe they are all divine spiritual messengers . Just beautiful !

I’m fascinated with this bird. Bought a bird bath after seeing a Blue Jay drinking water from the dog’s plate. A bunch of other birds came as well and a cardinal showed up one day, mostly brown and some red. A few days later another one, different color, mostly red. I’m in FL, temperatures are warning up right now and they are here every day, at any time. Thank you for this vid, I’m learning how to recognize them when they sing.

Excellent presentation! I live in Southeast Kansas and it seems that winter is being kind so far and my next door neighbor moved away this week and gave us several "shepherd's cane" bird feeders which are appreciated. We kinda had a deal where I would feed the squirrels (to keep them away from the bird feeders) and they would feed the birds. My wife and I have been growing a "portable container garden" for almost 4 years (since we and our neighbor are renters), so now I have to help our feathered friends. The only ones that I have not seen lately are the Cardinals and Bluejays. So, I really want to keep our little 'tradition' going and your sage advice is what I needed this morning. Thank you! "Doc"

Bob is right about cardinals becoming more urban birds. We see them year round in South Florida. The pairs I see prefer the feeder between our house and our neighbor. Our cardinals and mockingbirds love the bright purple berries of our American Beauty Berry trees, and they grow all over the Southeast USA. PS to Bob - Love, love love your videos! I've gotta have 50 of them around my yard here in S.E. Tennessee...easily. We had tons of babies this spring. Also finches, Towhees, Wood Thrush, Chickadees, Titmice, many species of Sparrows, a Red Bellied Woodpecker and a few Downy Woodpeckers (they love the suet)!! I put my feeder up a couple years ago and the population exploded. I live adjacent to a wood line with many trees and thick brush. Perfect for these birds. I put the feeder about 10 feet from where I sit outside and over time they've gotten quite used to me. Actually had an adult female Cardinal land on my arm this summer. It was amazing. Truly incredible creatures and humans could learn a lot from them. I love them all and the money I

I just found your channel. Thanks for the very helpful video. Cardinals are year around in our backyard. We have seen at least four at a time. They like our neighbors evergreen tree but stops by for our apple tree. The tree is dying and I bought a sauet block feeder to replace the tree. Other neighbors have feeders and food gardens. I watch them eat the food. I'll never tell on the birds. My concern is water. Any ideas?

I have a cardinal that we inherited from our homes previous owners. He loves to fight with his image and admire himself in a mirror. Problem is, he only does that on our guest vehicles and leaves behind large deposits, no returns! He reminds us of the character in the Chicago Fire series, Severide. So, that’s his name! I want to build a feeder/house for Jolin and the other birds and include a mirror for his preening. Any suggestions? BTW, great video!

Thanks so much for this great video and all the others that you do. I used to have so many Cardinals when I lived in Connecticut however now that I'm in Maine for some reason I have no Cardinals and I've done everything to try to make my habitat attractive for them I do have one of the squirrel buster plus feeders with the Cardinal ring and I do use safflower and black oil see and I have it hanging off my deck on a long hook so it's not that far off the ground and I know people in my town who see Cardinals all the time I've been here 8 years and I haven't seen one I have tons of chickadees but no Cardinals. I don't know what I'm doing wrong I live in coastal Connecticut about 4 MI from the water and in the woods so it should be an ideal spot but nothing. Any ideas?

Just add a handful of shelled peanuts with your feed, it works wonders. The female cardinal is far bolder than the male and visits often in our backyard. Also too many birds, that is dozen sparrows, half a dozen doves, dozen catbirds and few red winged blackbirds seems to have scared the shy cardinals and woodpeckers. But they do come just not that often. A handful of peanuts in the mixture of cheap walmart & lowes birdfood does wonders.
