and use my code "JUICEBOX" at checkout for $50 off your order! Thanks for your support! In this video I talk about the 7 things that I may have done differently could I start my bus conversion from scratch again. If you're a new viewer I hope you watch this video BEFORE watching my build series. I hate to think that I could have lead anyone astray in my videos, but always remember that when you watch KZbinrs build things they are usually building in ways that are particular to their means, and their needs, and it might not always be right for you.
#skooliebuild #busconversion #schoolbustinyhouse
I realized early on while building our Skoolie that while it helps to see what others do, and it helps big time to have a couple of trustworthy advisors (I looked to chromeyellowchorp.com for advice several times during the build) you have to develop trust in yourself and find your own and believe in your own inner guidance. It sounds hella corny, but most of the time the answers are inside of you (and yeah sometimes you really do need input from others to help you figure out how to solve a problem).
Here's our website: schoolbustinyhouse.com check it out for step by step articles about how to turn a school bus into a tiny house.
Anyways if you need help, or you just want to say hi you can send me an email at gilliganphantom@gmail.com and I will get back to you eventually.
This is the Maxxair fan that I would use for active ventilation: amzn.to/31LAWUG
If you want to support our channel, click that Maxxair fan link above and then do your Amazon shopping. We get a small commission from anything you buy right after clicking that link. You can send me Amazon's money as a way to support our channel. How cool is that?! And if you're not down with Amazon we totally get that.

Thanks for the video. I get a lot of hate from people when I tell them don't get a 40ft bus. I have a 22ft Class C and it has space for everything, only issue for 4 people is having to change couch to a bed at night. Outside there is plenty of room to hang out. You don't need a fan on the roof. What you need is cross flow between windows to move air. Put fans in the windows that cross ventilate. Note that regular houses don't have fans in roof! (ok, some have whole-house fans, and they work well, but not required)

It seems to me that building a schoolie is an art form. And artists will never be 100% satisfied. I have recently acquired my first bus and am in the demolition phase. My bus is 27 feet long (8 windows), with a fresh DT466. I have been seeking a bus like this for about 2 years. I couldn't deal with a 40 footer. This shorter bus is perfect for me

So i done 2 things wrong, We bought a 40Ft for starters haha. And, we had the same bathroom setup planned, it totally makes sense to have them opposing, Or beside each other with Hallway entries, saving a foot or 2 space! im glad we watched this before we built it! brilliant video!

Haha so glad it was helpful for you!! You can do almost anything within reason with a 40 foot bus. It just wears on you because driving it in the ridiculous situations you may feel inclined to find yourself in is a lot harder!

I totally agree on the rear engine. The view is great (and essentially the same seat height as big rigs) and for the most part the engine noise I hear is the whistle of the turbo. It will be even quieter once I build out the interior. I really enjoy driving so it's nice to not have the heat and noise of a dog nose or even worse a front engine. Also, as my 31'-6" Thomas has such a short wheelbase, maneuvering is very easy. I drive it everywhere like it's a car. People think I'm crazy.

They’re out there! A bit more rare than the 40 footer, though. This one was from NV so it was rust free. It also included a working exhaust brake which was a welcome surprise.

@@MobileDwellings Sent with some other info I hope is helpful. Also of interest as you didn't care for the mini-split condenser being mounted on the back of the Gillig, on the Thomas HDX there is enough space directly below the driver's seat to place the condenser, so it will be ahead of the wheels and pretty protected from debris. You could use one of the existing A/C side vent panels (if you remove the huge OTR system) and mount that to the side panel cutout ahead of the wheels. You should be able to turn the wheels hard to the right and slide it under the chassis when installing. That's my plan, anyway. We'll see how it goes.

I remember years ago west coast customs brought this chick into the shop to do a "glass roof". Essentially it was a roof plug once the hole was cut open. I don't know what state your in but its an idea to plug the roof. Maybe contact a welder and have them make a metal plug and within the metal plug is a hole for which ever fan you want in it. Not the most helpful but a couple ideas to start with.

Hey guy's 👋 👋 👋, I personally wouldn't recommend any Insulation that can absorb any form of liquid, I would recommend polystyrene tho, I've used it lots and it's cheap and easy to use, and most importantly doesn't absorb moisture. The " Maxie fans " / Max fann or whatever you guys call it, is a real good choice they draw very little power and proform great.

dear bro, i would like to collect more inf. about spray foam, to protect the condensation, what else would you think you gonna choose besides spray foam. i will take all window out and put the some new in and rise the roof. the most important that i worry much is condensation because i used to see the water drip n drop out from the metal. would you please guide me about this problem before i start to do it. #2 is that i want to protect from the sun because my location is hot around 90 to 110 on May, June, July, august and September but on November, December, January, February, there are foggy to much n high humidity 95%, that is 2 thing i need to do for mu bus. 1 is protect heat, 2 is protect condensation. please help me to decide. i would like to collect all inf. so i would know what i gonna do with my bus because i will spend my life in the bus 100% as my house.

I wouldn't go for anything that can absorb moisture, I.e wool. I recommend polystyrene, because if u had a leak or something, the water won't be absorbed therefore the water doesn't pool as easy, meaning hopefully it will dry out and not rust.
