Hey Bjorn, great demo. This is definitely great for the whole Echorec experience. But I do have a budget recommendation for Gilmour’s Echorec tones. Get a TC Electronic Flashback or Plethora and load up their Toneprint software on your computer or mobile phone. Under artists go to Andy Martin (he is the guitar player who demos pedals on the KZbin channels of Reverb and ProGuitarshopDemos) and load his TonePrint “Alter Ego E REC 2” into one of your TonePrint slots on your TC device. This is the same Echorec sound that you can find on the Alter Ego V2 pedal, but now it's available to every Flashback and Plethora. To me, it sounds accurate.

Hey Bjorn, thanks for the great video! Speaking of the tube preamp stage of this unit alone, how would it compare to a real Binson’s preamp? A tube stage is always welcome in the chain 😁
@gilmourishofficial3 ай бұрын
I don't have a Binson at hand so I haven't been able to do an A/B test. The Preamp on the Deluxe is pushing the input stage and adds a bit of saturation and compression. It makes the repeats sound a bit fatter and you can also turn everything down and just use the preamp to push the front end of your amp. It's not overly hot though so it's not a substitute for a booster pedal.

Hello I have a question, how do you get nice clear audio when recording guitar, I use my voxac15c1x, cakewalk with my scarlets solo 3rd gen with a Shure sm57 and I can’t get clear audio it’s always sounds muddy/muffled ;( any tips? Thank you
@gilmourishofficial2 ай бұрын
That depends on what you mean by muddy. Recording require a lot of practice and experimentation. A good place to start is to make sure you got a good tone in the room. Place the mic about 2 inches from the grille cloth on the amp and point it about where the speaker cone is glued to the speaker. Not dead centre but 2-3 off to the side. Move the mic closer to the middle or further away for more or less brigtness. Make sure you set the right pre amp volume on your sound card and DAW.
@nathan70632 ай бұрын
Thank you!! You always have great tone ✊🏼
@Moon_Vibex2 ай бұрын
The SM57 sounds good only when paired with a good mic preamp who can fattens the mids and tame his treble, like Neve 1073, API 512c, Chandler TG2, etc. Into a cheap audio interface....it sounds cheap! Fizzy, treble, muffled, etc... I had the exact same experience with this mic. All the great guitar sounds we love were made with an SM57, sure, but not into a Focusrite Scarlett! The microphone is to the guitar, as the mic preamp is to the guitar amplifier: how can a vintage 1959 Les Paul sound into a 10W transistor combo? The same applies to a microphone. Try a Sennheiser e906, it sounds more balanced than an SM57 when connected to an audio interface, or alternatively keep the SM57 and buy a good analogue mic preamp. No need for a vintage Neve or API, today Golden Age Project and Warm Audio make great preamps at a very reasonable price. If you follow this route, you must also get a new audio interface that allows you to bypass the internal preamps and use the interface only the AD/DA converter, for example the Audient ID22. Recording a guitar amp is not rocket science, but it still requires some care. And the right tools.

Hi Bjorn. The Echorec has just been reissued, I think by T-Rex (very very expensive, about €2k) Boss has just issued a new analog delay, the DM-101, a digitally controlled BBD one with very interesting features like behaving like there are multiple recording heads on a tape, etc... Some say the sound is as good as with the Moog MF-104 which has absolutely stellar sound.
@kierenmoore32363 ай бұрын
Neither of those pedals have the best old analog chips, tho’. They still sound very good, mind.
@harounel-poussah69363 ай бұрын
@@kierenmoore3236 Sorry, but I know electronics a bit, the BBDs in the MF-104Z are the real deal : the old best 18V BBDs, not the recent reissues in 9V. Considering the very few numbers of MF-104s built, well... Do you own one or two? We're not a lot of users on the planet! I'm considering the DM-101 (and IDK what's inside, unfortunately) because it will definitively be much easier to manage in a guitar-rig than the two MF-104Z: piloting 'em thru CV (control voltage) from the Doepfer MCV-24 is a bit a piss off, moreover, I don't need the full Fooger collection to be used for guitar and the MF-104Zs can absolutely serve for the synths or the studio, in fact, I plan to buy a modular synth in the future. When it comes to the DM-101, if it has the 9V reissue BBDs, I stashed old 18V ones in case of issues with the MF-104Zs, I can absolutely do a little circuit bending and adapt the power supply, there are high chances that this unit will be recased into an 1U rack enclosure with many other stompboxes: you know, a 19" 1U frontplate has room for 100+ pots, some are 45cm deep and you can easily stuff 3 if not 4 layers of PCB if you're good at playing Tetris...
