Why Gil acting like those exact comments on being a ball hog and empty stats was literally the same thing they said about MJ till ‘91. Most thought he was the greatest to ever play just off ability but of course not in accolades at that moment (at least not until his 4th or 5th ring). EVERY GREAT that didn’t win right away like Bird, Kareem, Magic, Duncan for example has heard there stats were meaningless. Hell, KOBE HEARD it after winning 3 titles. Wilt heard it his whole career even after winning a title and outright beating the 60’s Celtics. Also, it’s interesting when people talk about the narratives when the stats just clearly show it differently. Sure, to a point when MJ or Kobe were averaging 33+ PPG they didn’t win (well MJ did average 31.5, 30 and 32.5 in his first 3 peat compared to 37, 35, 32.5, 33.6 the years prior) they should’ve got their teammates more involved but it’s not just one sided. They needed actually GOOD TEAMMATES around them. LeBron is no different. Sure the pre-Heat Cavs lead LeBron teams weren’t offensively competent but there style of play, there coaching and the league was all centered towards defense. Considering most playoff games had scores between 75-90 points as the final scores. The Cavs during those years with Mike Brown were always one of the best defensive teams in the league. MJ’s assist totals the 3 years before he won his 3-peat were MUCH higher than during his 3-peat years. His offensive win shares stayed at 14-15 during those 3 years and his 90-91 year then dropped to 12.5 in 91-92 & 92-93. Likewise with his PER and funny thing is his usage rate was HIGHER in his 2nd 3-peat where they were slightly more defensive focused due to Rodman, Harper, Pippen and MJ (and the league at the time) than his first three peat and every year before that except in 86-87 where he had no offensive help and averaged 37-5-5. Hell his usage rate on the Wizards was higher than ANY year he was on the Bulls except 86-87. So yea Scottie clearly butthurt the son that looks closest to MJ is next in line on his for the streets ex along with the Last Dance. But seriously some things can be explained or concluded by looking at the stats. Clearly once MJ had good enough talent to win for the era he nearly always won. It’s no different than any era for any team sport especially one where there’s a series. It just depends since some eras are weaker than others and the late 80s-early 90s is arguably the best era of having a ton of talent in NBA history along with today’s era

Production matters and is probably the single most important thing you can do. Having said that, there are things that matter beyond production. You can produce a lot but at some point that production can having diminishing returns. One thing that I think seperates MJ with just about every other player is how accountable he made his teammates. He made sure they gave everything to the team not just because MJ was demanding it, but because that was also the example he was setting.

You can't just scream at them (that's called bullying nowadays), you can't punch them (the organization is filming everything and will release it to pay you less), EVERYTHING you say, will be held against you, by EVERY ENTITY including your organization. Not to mention if your coach doesn't win a championship or you have a down year, the coach is fired. The world and league changed so the same "forcing teammates......", is OUT. That style worked in the 90s. It didn't even work in 2000 when Jordan had Stackhouse, Richard Hamilton. Then he tried the same thing with Kwame brown, and that created one of the top bust of all time! Hell he tried it for 15 years after that and every team he put together and was putting his finger on has been horrible, whether they were the bobcats or hornets. Try telling your child what to do and their making 10 million dollars a year! 😂😂That style worked for 100 years because for 10 thousands years, that force could be used. Now, you have to accommodate a grown man's "feelings" by getting clearance from the team psychologist and you have to watch how you look at him because he might commit suicide. Times changed and Jordan and kobe represented the last time that sorry if "leadership" could be used.

I’ve watched TLD again after Scottie voiced his disapproval and MJ spoke glowingly about Scottie. He didn’t tell about the time Scottie sat out of practice bc his cat died and Horace missed half of that same practice to help him grieve. 0:45 because I’m someone who believed that if Len Bias lived, Michael Jordan would not have gotten those 3-peat championships twice, I can try to translate Scotty Pippen’s argument without causing the reaction that it has I’m glad that this podcast talked about the team game aspect of Scottie Pippen‘s comment. I think that is what he means. He was a horrible player. And because no one heard the first part of that podcast, the entire comment is taken out of context, even though Scotty himself , it’s partially to blame for that. He’s likely trying to say that Michael Jordan did not play winning basketball until Phil Jackson, and the rest of the Chicago bulls. Brain trust created the system that maximize this otherworldly talent. Before modern times, I would say that just like Jordan says, the team aspect, and putting together the best players around Michael is what allow them to win the championship. They don’t win without Scotty at his playing days was a top 25 player. They don’t win without Steve Kerr and Dennis Rodman in any of these other characters. They definitely do not win without Phil Jackson as a coach. Now, if we look at an issue that Scotty didn’t bring up about who’s best, LeBron James is leaning more and more towards the Wilt Chamberlain side of the argument. A simply dominant physical presence who got defeated by better teams. This happened to Jordan as well until his team was the best team. When they lost to Boston, Detroit, before they got to a certain level, they were more of an up-and-coming team versus they were the best team. They beat Jordan because Jordan’s teams weren’t that good, and to what Scotty is suggesting, because those teams weren’t good, Jordan tried to take on the Pistons, but his sheer well, and was not able to do that.

Consistently failing in the first round (if they made it) he didn't win anything until the Bad Boys were over the hill and out of the way, and Pippen joined the team. Jorden left and the bull still won 65 games. Lebron leaves a team and they go from contender to lottery picks. Brandon Jennings needs to grow up. It's obvious Scottie has tried to be a professional by not laying out his criticisms of Jordan and the Last Dance was the final straw. That's what motivated him to change his tune.

Say what you want, but Scottie was speaking facts. The Bulls we're struggling before him, Rodman, Couchoch and Grant joined the team. Scottie shut the floor down enough for Jordan to clean house. Rodman stayed on the glass and Grant was an all star legend that didn't get to prove himself until Jordan left, because the team format was to hand the ball to Jordan.. Jordan was smart and leveraged his position to recruit all of the people he couldn't beat.
