It says on the back of the box that he was in an Aether reservoir explosion and it turned him into a genius. I am confused about it asking how long the allegiance of the people of Kaladesh will last. Will they abandon him or something?

Gimbal is essentially Urza, Chief Artificer but in Temur + artifact tokens, and I am all for it as well!

I wouldn't really compare the Gremlins to the Karnstructs. The latter are much stronger in my opinion. Karnstructs would, however, do rather well in a Gimbal deck!

It's funny how different perspectives we can have. So I don't think Gimbal stinks. However, I do not think his precon does him justice. At first, I thought Tinker Time was just a copy of Exquisite Invention. However, looking at the intersection of the decks and the cards unique to them, I've come to some conclusions. - See, Tinker Time does have some neat cards in it that I think Exquisite Invention would've enjoyed too. However, it is a travesty that it does not have artifact lands, most notably Tree of Tales which ironically hasn't seen a proper reprint since Planechase. - Tinker Time in my opinion is not an artifact deck. Almost all its artifact cards are mana rocks, and only four of its creatures are also artifacts. The deck doesn't really make any big artifact creature tokens either besides the gremlins. So the trample doesn't do much for the precon. - Also, don't go thinking you should use Masterful Replication to turn your tokens into Gremlins; they're actually 0/0s, so it doesn't really work. - There are no utility lands; only mana lands. - Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer would make an odd yet powerful addition as it offers haste, makes Myr tokens and when we wish, on the combat step, we can turn all our clues and food into our most powerful token. - There are no proliferate effects in the deck, so the counters and Replicating Ring do not make a lot of sense in the precon as-is. I also don't think the deck supports Rashmi and Ragavan all that well. - There's no green card draw (drawing upon combat damage) either, so the trample is really only there for damage. Does this make Gimbal a poorly designed commander? No! I personally think he's a little unfocused (cares about artifact creatures, cares about differently named artifact tokens *and* makes +1/+1 counter artifact creature tokens). I've built so many decks focused around very specific commanders that I actually find Rashmi and Ragavan to be a breath of fresh air. You can run the Temur artifact deck you want, be it about nontoken artifacts or artifact tokens, and there's just the payoff for casting a spell on your turn. I would recommend including Spawning Pit in a Gimbal deck, as it offers some recovery, which token decks really need. Oh, and Retrofitter Foundry should've been in the precon. It makes so much sense for Gimbal, and it has only ever been printed in Exquisite Invention before. I could go on, but I think these are my most important takeaways. The precon in my opinion is weird, and not necessarily in a fun way. But I'm sure Gimbal can do a bunch! I hope people have fun with him. It's actually funny how I went from being excited, to thinking he was okay, to being disappointed, to being frustrated, to settling on him being okay once again. He's fine, and it's really the precon I take issue with.

Read: if you're excited about Tinker Time, that's great! Me having so many opinions on it really speaks to my love for Exquisite Invention, and to how much I've experimented with Brudiclad and tokens. I feel like I've seen all that Tinker Time has to offer and much, much more is all :p But if you made a deck from scratch around Gimbal or Rashmi and Ragavan, I'm sure you could make something really fun and wacky.
