When the company knew about his accident and the shoulder injury, they told him that he didn't have to worry. That they would help him.

Your comment about macro-to-micro in the videos struck me, because he did the exact same thing in his tour. As was mentioned, parts of the stage could lift away. He started the evening with a full stage, but pieces would lift away (into the darkness above, ooOoOoo!) as he completed each segment of the concert. By the end, he was standing on... basically, a glorified soapbox. A piece of stage just large enough for him to stand on. Each piece lost brought him closer to the audience, and revealed more (like the mini-living room he had stashed under the stage at one point). A clever bit I love to point out, which I don't think most people initially catch-- green hoodie Yoongi (who's watching couch-sleeping Yoongi from by the closed door) is eating almonds. One of the closeups of Yoongi's handful of pain pills is replaced with a closeup of a handful of almonds. The amygdala (from the Greek for "almond")... is almond-shaped. 🤯 Every time I watch these videos I pick up something new about them... this time, I noticed that couch-sleeping Yoongi jerked in his sleep just BEFORE delivery-boy Yoongi hit the car.

Have you heard of the book 'Almond' by Won Pyung Sohn? It was a huge best seller in South Korea, Suga said he read it a couple of years ago and it really seems like he got inspired from it for his song Amygdala 🤔 The book is about a boy who has trouble identifying his emotions: he couldn't feel or understand fear, anger, etc, and was unaware of danger. It's a brain condition called Alexithymia: his amygdala had a malformation and was too little. So his mom, knowing it had the shape of an almond, gave him almonds to eat everyday, foolishly hoping it might help develop his amygdala ^^

the chronology sequence for the characters is basically amygdala mv agust d -> (agust d mv agust d) -> mad king agust d from daechwita -> rebel agust d from daechwita -> detective agust d from haegeum -> thief agust d from haegeum (no scar anymore), and you can see the different levels of scar being healed, and he keeps killing of versions of himself because no matter what you will get negative traits, bad memories and so on, they keep popping up throughout your entire life and you have to keep living and fighting them and killing them and once again moving on as a better version of you, it will keep getting easier (scar fading) but those feelings and things will never truly disappear

22:04 the story is actually that around 2012 he got into the accident, i think he did not tell the company for only a few weeks, he had to tell because he basically could not do anything and was depressed, but i am not sure if he told the truth right away because at one point he told people that he had just fell down the stairs, but anyways company was like why did you not tell us sooner, and if money was a problem we will support your university education etc and he did work in pain and silence for years but his company and members knew, and fans knew about the accident for at least since 2016, but fans did not know about him working in pain and the accident fucking everything up that much until 2020 when he got the surgery, when bts members all got 7 tattoos suga got his on his shoulder on one of the surgery scars

Thank you for the additional details, I didn't remember all of this at the time! I'm just so glad that his shoulder's improved, even though he still might deal with residual chronic issues. I know in the Monuments docu-series, he uses a brace backstage at the PTD concerts (probably for hot/cold therapy), and that's after the surgery.
@kabazinga10 ай бұрын
@@HallyuWithMe yes, it's definitely an injury for life, all members have some form of chronic pain or injuries, it's just something that comes with the kind of job they have, but the surgery definitely improved everything a lot, before he could not lift a soda can on worst days and had to get shots in like every city
@jessicaelle098810 ай бұрын
I loved the way you gave context and explained the meanings. This saga is pretty heavy and can seem a bit difficult to fully understand. Just wanted to add: The amygdala is the part of the brain that stores all of our unpleasant memories so we can prepare for those types of situations if they were to happen again in the future. Suga said in an interview that it's "a very important process to learn to controle those memories". It has the shape of an almond, which is why he was eating almonds in the MV ^^ The song is basically about reliving your traumas and not being able to move one from them. Some people self-harm as a way to cop with them, hence the scar. Eventually opening that door represents him finally breaking free from them.

It's also connnected to when he arrived with his hommie's in the court of the tyrant Emperior if you remember he hang his head of the car window and he started Rap telling the Tyrant Emperior who he was. Also did you notice earlier in the MV when he and the gang are invading the the Corrupt police Officer/mob business business the guy on the phone letting the Big boss know and Agust D give's him a tiny nod now at he's the one's standing behind him when his head in being plunged into the water filled oil drum. It was a set up he was part of the set up. This is also the same in the Deachwita the low cast Butcher in the market Agust D give a tiny nod too is also in on 'the plan' as he's also the Tyrant Emperiors beheader.

A haegeum is a two-string Korean traditional instrument. This haegeum could mean the duality of things- the good side and the bad side. Same with the chopsticks- a two piece eating utensil- that was used to end life here and to sustain life.

If you get a chance, check out Lay's mv for Lit. (Lay is a Chinese member of the group Exo). It is similar to Daechwita using a time from the past with an even more spectacular set and some spectacular effects - including a dragon - and Lay paid for the mv himself (about 1.5 million US dollars) which was filmed at Hengdian World Studios, the largest film studio in the world. Btw, Lit means Lotus in Chinese, and he does mix in the use of traditional Chinese instruments. Lay has become the biggest artist in China.

Yes I'd love to see that and with him and Jimin as have you seen Jimin in gangster mode oh boy him and Suga flipping eck they really do look the part and Jimin could use his Busan Accent because when he puts his accent, glare, swagger and together although he's using all the right polite tones he sounds and look like a classic Educated Busan Mob Boss, according to a couple of Korean Reactors. Both have said he and Suga should really do a mobster series/film together.

I don't think they ever use stunt or body doubles as even V talks about how was the one jumping into the water and being field under water. Jungkook running while the floor is colasping underneath him in Blood Sweat and tears. They do it themselves.

i am pretty sure pill popping lyrics from the past mvs and the imaginary in amygdala are not connected in any way, like shading artists who abuse drugs and think that it helps them and most likely showing how he had to live in pain and take pain relief medicine are really not the same thing
@HallyuWithMe10 ай бұрын
That is absolutely true, it's two very different things!

Being rap artists they habitually use doubles and triples where you play with different meanings. But heres my take. Daechwita Abusive corrupt Mad King Suga literally stands on the prostrate people. As they include Junkooks cartoon of Bang PD and he is also mentioned. We know this song has to do at least in part with Sugas proffessional persona. BTS were treated very badly by the industry old guard. So The mad abusive king is the industry old guard thats one layer second layer is he's Suga after his first album( based on something he said) so the mad King is also Sugas anger and ambition he was consumed with after his first album. Rebel Suga raises up the prostrate people with his beat. The people help him kill the mad king. So in terms of the second meaning. Poor Rebel Suga kills old him that is consumed with anger and ambition. It's his new self but also someone embracing his roots and clearly demonstrates he will not become like the corrupt industry old guard. He will always be part of the people. Suga has said he has killed Min Yoongi. He seems to see that his maturation process is a process of killing off his old selves, rather than taking them along wirh him.. personally I find Suga and RM completely facinating. Not only do I admire them immensely but find their complex psychology compelling. J Hopes creativity and creative ambition is equally admirable however I find his psychological motivations more ellusive. His character is hardwr to grasp and the duality more sharply delineated. His light and dark more extreme.
@HallyuWithMe9 ай бұрын
I love your thoughts, this is so interesting to think about! I think you are right about JHope feeling elusive, which could be from the outward facing extroverted side of him is more socially acceptable. There’s always a “life of the party” somewhere whether in real life or in a story. Celebrity exists somewhere between the two. And the burden of that persona (doubled up with celebrity) is where I think his darker side ends up emerging. We have a JHope video coming out soon, so give us a subscribe to help keep a lookout for that!!

See the USA doesn't have law that protect employees while here in the UK and most of Europe we do have protect. We don't have to worry about being ill in fact they don't want you going into work ill as you won't do a good job you'll make mistake's if it's infectious you'll pass it on to others. Productivity drops so go home get better and come back recover quicker and you'll be able to work better.
