Well it's not that they can affect unaffected monsters, it's that changing the effect is somehow not considered affecting the monster.

I had a salty Tenpai player at my locals get upset when he found out Lotus does in fact change the Tenpai effect even with the Field spell up. tbf I hate these kinds of ruling since if you read the cards you would think they wouldn't work. it just seems like one of those things that works because Konami says it works. also just playing 8 handtraps at all is insane in that format. I guess they couldn't play the smaller Yubel package since Closed sky isn't in the tcg yet. (closed sky link2 makes it so you only play 1 of each of the yubels i.e. Spirit, OG Yubel and terror. since Opening of the spirit gates gets you to full yubel and fiendsmith combo and the sole reason should be playing Chaos summoning beast. without Closed sky that card is actually ass.)

You still have to clarify what that means. On the ygorganization database has a precedent for interactions like that which is dark world brainwashing vs master peace. The ruling for that interaction states that changing the effect is not treated as effecting the monster that activated. The only difference is that dark world brainwashing targets and returns dark world monster to the hand before changing the effect of the opponent's monster. Either way, the interaction with noir and in this video fall under a similar scenario. You cannot say that his understanding of the interaction is wrong and then give an example that you cannot even explain.

Edit: forgot to clarify that the ruling is that changing the effect is not counted as effecting the monster. You say that but you fail to explain why grapha fusion works that way, and you even sound uncertain of the particular scenario because you say "or something." The precedent for the ruling is the interaction of dark world brainwashing with master peace. The only difference between grapha and the trap is that the dark world trap targets and returns a dark world monster to the hand and then changes the effect of the opponent's monster that it activated in response to.

It is moments like these that will cause ppl to lose to the deck when they should not. Giant grinder is main phase one only. Doll cannot add back if sent from hand. Big differences when you face this deck.
