In every game after Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Activision introduced new gimmick skylanders showing off the gimmick of the game. So lets take a look at these gimmick landers.

Skylanders was kind of created by accident,I don't remember every detail but I know the first Skylanders game was meant to be a sort of reboot for spyro the dragon as some of the previous spyro games didn't do too well. Skylanders very quickly became its own thing and I know a lot of people were mad that spyro had kind of been forgotten about in the Skylanders franchise

I think trap team took the gimmick a little too far where kids didn’t want the cores anymore because of how much cooler the trap masters were. Trap masters open up elemental gates, deal bonus damage to villains, break traptanium shards, and have much bigger figures. I can totally see why kids wouldn’t buy the cores at all that year and I don’t think I did either. Which is why I think superchargers stripping back both the size of the roster as well as removing the difference between new cores and gimmicklanders all together was a great choice.

Superchargers only having gimmick landers was also a reason for them to raise the price for new skylanders, which I dislike. Especially because the vehicles could've been considered the gimmick skylanders. But they wanted to make more money. I do agree it was a good idea to only have gimmick landers, but they should have been the regular price and figure size of core skylanders.

@FrogMouth I didn't like superchargers, but something I did really like about it was the skylanders themselves. All the new skylanders had really good designs and made me wish I could play them in previous games. The figurines were higher quality, and the rift engines on the platforms were a nice touch.

Skylanders wasn’t just a game about toys coming to life. It was more of a experimental franchise trying out ideas, themes, or gameplay changes. Which is why I like Skylanders as a game not just because of nostalgia but more because there good games with later game spicing it up.

My theory is maybe they dug the ground under a piece of traptanium so they now had this boulder with a large cluster of traptanium on it. They then used that to make some sort of impractical weapon that destroyed other traptanium clusters, and refined those into more practical ones

Eon broke through Traptanium in Superchargers, so I’m inclined to believe that the Portal Masters have a way of destroying it, meaning they possibly forged the weapons in the first place. It’s likely that Eon himself made the Trap Masters’ weapons, at least that’s my headcanon

I think this game series is still so cool at the age of 22 today. It was ahead of its time when I was about 10/12! The swap gimmick was the last time I've ever heard from them. Family was poor back then and we had to move a couple years later so they couldn't buy me a set. Ngl, kinda broke my heart, but it is what it was. I still look back at it and all the fun conversations I had with my friends. Gosh, I wonder how much the gold figures cost now...? I had a couple of those and felt like flexing my rich tastes of shiny and rare figures

All these years later, and the Swap Force are still my favorite gimmick. Imaginators take a VERY close second, but man little me's mind was BLOWN when I saw I could mix and match these guys and make the perfect power set for each character. It's probably the most customizable a Skylander has ever been, power wise at least. To this day, it's the only set of Skylanders I have every normal version and variant for (not counting chase figures, cause those were hell to come across) and I love them all to bits

I’m glad I found your channel, I fell in love with sky landers almost ten years ago when I got Spyro’s adventure for Christmas. It was the first truly story driven game I played at the time and was absolutely mesmerized. The way the player was referred to as Portal Master really made me feel as though I was truly interacting with the world. Absolutely love these games!

Trap team was probably my favorite. It was also cool that you could see who you had trapped on the Wii U pad when you played. Imaginations was the worst one. I liked to have the figure and see the characters in the game, so when the characters became these crystals, they just lost me

The last Skylanders game I played was Trap Masters. I had a decent collection of Skylanders from all the previous games and from Trap Masters itself. If I looked around I could probably find them and it makes me want to pick it back up and live the good old days. I love every gimmick of the Skylanders games! However, if I were to personally say my MOST favorite gimmick, I'd go with Swap Force, because I had loads of fun continuously swapping out the top and bottom halves a lot as a kid, was really enjoyable to make endless combos in Swap Force!!!!! I do also love Imaginators the most because I love the idea of making my imagination a reality, and believe me I have a really BIG imagination!!!!!!

@@SkylanderGamerTV I'll be honest. I LOVE Skylanders. I'm bummed it isn't being made or sold anymore. I loved going to stores like Walmart, Gamestop, Target or Toys R Us and browsing through their Skylanders Isle to see if they had any I still needed for my collection. Sometimes when I go shopping, I sometimes run to the Videogame section where the Skylanders used to be just to see if maybe they had old Skylanders in the back in stock and want them sold out. Sadly, not the case. I think even though it's sad that Skylanders is over, maybe it's for the best that it ended. Look at Imaginators. It wasn't as good with fans as the other games and it was too short and heck, it barley had Flynn, Cali, Hugo, etc. They replaced them with the Core Skylanders like Spyro and Stealth Elf. Personally, I feel like Skylanders Peaked at Trap Team. Should've ended there IMO, especially with it's ending and how we trap Kaos at the end and thus make him good. Even though there is a comic in between Trap Team and Superchargers that explains how Kaos escaped, but still.

i like to use magna charges top half when leveling bottom half's of swappers cause the magnet abilities combined with the coin room in the main hubs well means you get a bunch of coins so just log in go to the room with magnet on leave back to main menu rinse and repeat
