Thanks for making these tutorials. The Gimp walkthroughs are really valuable. Never having worked in Gimp until yesterday, having studied 2 of your tutorials I feel comfortable in editing thumbnails and adding effects.

When will G'MIC be available for Gimp 2.10 on Ubuntu...please I need this......Edit...Figured it out without your damn filters....The majority of us use GIMP because we hate Windows...If I wanted to use Windows then I'd just use Adobe Photoshop...not switching to Windows just to use this on 2.10.

G'mic didn't run on my pc...at first I had trouble with .dll files, I downloaded them until there were no errors with dll files, but then there was an error message, the program couldn't start and gimp opened without the g'mic addon...googled a bit, but dunno why :/

G'MIC is great! I use it all the time since I discovered it. It's also available as a video plugin effects pack (Openfx) and it works in software like Natron.

I had an issue with Dream Smoothing but I seem to have resolved it. For anyone else experiencing this, read on: I'm using Linux Mint 18 on a dual-Xeon system with 24GB RAM, so memory shouldn't have been an issue. Dream Smoothing would get stuck when applying the filter. The preview worked just fine, but when I clicked apply it was stuck on "Processing 0 seconds". Small images would process OK, larger ones if the smoothing was dropped. I found out that there was a version of G'Mic already installed via the package manager and that was interfering with the downloaded plugin for Gimp. Running "sudo apt-get remove gmic" solved my issue.

You need to choose the 2.10 folder 2.8 folder is used default

Great video. Question Nick. So I was doing a sports edit. I crop out two players from the background. The image had a alpha channel. However, when I did brushify and the other gmic effects, it did it for the whole image and not just the crop players . Any advice on how to not include it in the cropped background?
