Thank you for this video. It's worth knowing which program is intended for which tasks. And how best to use them.

Great information. Clarified why Gimp is crummy when making "scalable" text. This is extremely helpful.

Thanks for the comparison. I do use Gimp et Inkscape but I would love to see a comparison between Gimp and Krita. I don't use Krita so don't know much about it except it can import RAW photos, Gimp not.

The biggest plus for Krita in my opinion are the non destructive layers, effects and vector formats integrated into the image. Because of this, I tried to switch from GIMP to Krita as default image editor, but I wasn't that happy with it. Text editing in GIMP is faster, which I do use a lot. Krita still have noticeably more bugs than GIMP. And overall general image editing in GIMP is better from its toolsets and I miss some options and tools from GIMP, when using Krita. The tablet and drawing features in Krita are a little bit better they say, but I don't know too much about this topic. My opinion might be biased, but to me GIMP is the better overall image editing software than Krita. But Krita shines in painting and drawing. I really really like the non destructive part of Krita.

@@PP3D Also managing, manipulating, Layer style and layers' properties in Krita is way easier and has so many more features for that purpose, it's just amazing, but like Tuncay D said, the overall experience to manipulate images/photos (IMHO) is better in GIMP (but it's so long now that i use GIMP that my judgement is biased) nonetheless Krita is an awesome piece of software which deserve to give it a try and I am looking more and more into it. Although, is clearly oriented painting art, high drawing level, and even animation, it also does manipulate photos very well. In another word Krita is a must to have on your computer.

How do we prepare file to print in inkscape because inkscape does not support cmyk colors And thank you😊
4 жыл бұрын
In the INkscape you should use some color profiles in document properties save svg file . and open in scribus. than save on pdfx1. inkscape and gimp both not have cmyk suport. plus. theres a lot tutorials in youtube explain this. better than I did.
@محمدفاروق-د1ه4 жыл бұрын
@ but when I opened the file in scribus the vector was locked I watched a lot of videos in youtube but they don't help thank you for your helping 👍

I feel like I am now in the Truman show as I searched Gimp vs Inkscape on Google at the weekend and since then this is the 2nd NEW video to appear on my subscriptions list with a "Gimp vs Inkscape" title in the last 2 days......now I am wondering if I am wasting my time uploading to youtube as maybe my life is being broadcast across the world like Truman Brubank's Wish I had know this before spending time creating my logo in Gimp which I found a ball ache at times. Anyway good video Michael.....If that is really your name

Not the Truman Show - the Twilight Zone. And yes, I feel like I’m living in it too when someone takes my content and repackages it as their own - which someone in particular has been doing a lot lately.

Let me ask, why when editing the quality psd file mockup in gimp, the color changes and the filter results are also different, is there a solution?
@LibreArts4 жыл бұрын
This is most likely because that PSD file has an adjustment layer or a layer effect - neither of these two features are supported by GIMP presently.

.jpg is "obsolete" for we Designers. .pgn or .svg or .dwg are plenty for me. if small-size is required, nothing beats .webp, though I've never used that new-fangled .avic(?) :-) btw...for the MOST-affordable pro-CAD software, do a review of...ActCAD !!! From India, but based on the core-engine of IntelliCAD. a $$-maker, kids? ;-)
