For you Inkling mains out there just make sure you have two shield butttons, pressing two shields is the same as shield + b.

Snake can't hold b during shield to lock himself into shield, either. I'm guessing this has to do with his grenades. Plus his grab works differently than every other grab, so it's safe to say he has his fair share of special code to make him work properly. An alternative to holding special+shield is holding shield twice (both triggers by default, or trigger+x/y, if you use a control scheme like that) and this works for every character. Just in case somebody missed BSD's video, it's worth mentioning.

its probably been said somewhere, but its actually more beneficial to shield tilt by using L+R, or any 2 jump buttons simultaneously. if you develop that habit over the shield+B then you can still shield tilt naturally even when playing as inkling and snake (or any other character that may not be able to press B and shield at the same time)

IDK if this is a new thing as a result of patch 2.02, but if you hold both shield buttons it allows you to tilt your sheild without dodging just like you were holding shield + B. Makes the tech more plausible for Inkling to pull off.

There is something very similar, that players did in smash 4 (on probably even brawl?) You would crouch first and then press shield. Since the shield forces you to stand up, you could press shield, when they entered your "normal" character height.
