I’m glad someone has the balls to give this watch the credit it deserves. You’re absolutely right that they made the sub Rolex should be making but they won’t. 40mm with thin lugs, ceramic bezel, maxi dial, glide lock clasp is the right combination, it’s a no brainer. And the mil sub hands are a nice touch to set it apart too. Well done!

Have you checked out the Phylida Seamaster homages? I got the bond watch with the PT5000 movement and I have to say, it is the nicest homage I have bought yet. The bezel was pretty tight when I first got it but it has worn in nice and works really good now. I wore that one to the Omega store and compared the bezel action between it and the Planet Ocean. The Phylida was better. The Planet Ocean had a lot of backplay and slop, the Phylida is absolutely rock solid. Absolutely my favorite Ali Express watch.

The best watch video of 2023. Honesty about the overpriced Rolex Submariner, no date is with Tax $9800.00 the date sub is around $11,000. I will be ordering a Ginault O.R II; I love the cyclops and everything about this watch. The Ginault Ocean Rover II comes in under $2000 bucks. this is what a Rolex should cost.

I’ve had my OR2 for about 2 years now. It’s the watch I wear more than any other. I think the sword hand is better than the Mercedes hands. I also have a planet ocean 600 and a Pelagos 39 and I think the bezel on the OR2 is better than both of them. Just like you said this is the best version of the submariner that you’ll find. If you take the best aspect of every sub ever made and put it in one watch you’ll end up with the OR2.

I agree with everything said. Had my OR2 black bezel for a little while now and it's the best watch I own. Most comfortable, best styling, and very reasonable price compared to Rolex. Even if I could not sure I would ever spend $10k on a watch anyways. I'm going to sell all my other watches this is the only one I wear now. Took a while to get but worth the wait.

I have an original Ocean Rover purchased four years ago. It’s is extremely well made and looks lovely on the wrist. Very comfortable. Perfect size for my wrist. It is also very accurate - about +/- 5 seconds per day.

I’ve had the Ocean Rover II for a couple years now and it’s great. Quality is top notch and I did get the optional Ginault leather band which I’ve since put on and looks and feels good. The stainless band is nice but I wanted a sportier look. Highly recommend this watch…

actually it's the OR2,5 The diffence is that this one has a differnt dial a bit. You can spot indexes under "hand made in America". Great review and the watch as well. I have mine OR2 bur I rather prefer an aluminum insert.

I placed an order, I'm patiently waiting for that no date + blue bezel. I took this over the Monta Ocean King V3, it's my insurance policy if I don't want to wear my 2011 14060M. Rolex is good, only if you're at the right place at the right time, in the right society (eg. Japan or something) where 0.25% chance you'll ever get robbed for your watch.

All of them are the same except the no date has a doomed Sapphire so it may be a little thicker but not much I will check all of them and get back to you ok both the date models 2022 and 2023 both 11.5 mm without cyclops 12.5 with cyclops 2019 no date is 13.5 mm thick

I own the rover 1 and I love it (I've worn it every day), but this is the second time it broke down on me in 4 years. Not sure what to do now, service it again or buy another watch. I would recommend send it back to Ginault and ask for a sw200 upgrade I'm not sure what they charge but I'm sure that maybe why they just started using the the sw200 along with the added benefit of a quicker production time since the movements are already assembled they just have to regulate them Or just buy an sw200 and take it to a watchmaker and have them put it in or do it yourself

Great watch... I've almost pulled the trigger on a Rolex more times than I can count and eventually I will. Its hard to find a high quality 40mm sport watch that's thin. The sub and the seaq are the only two players. I can't get past the fugly super case... The 5 digit slim lug watches look good but are actually huge piles of crap compared to modern offerings, especially when you factor how much they cost and how little value for dollar they provide. I'd own a 41 sub, I like the looks of it, but the new 3235 movements are having big time issues and even watchmakers are on the rolex forums talking about how bad the new movement is with huge design flaws. It needs to be serviced about every year to stay accurate. No thanks... I'll take a highly tuned sellita over the new rolex 3235 movement. The older 3135 was a rock solid movement but in the real world is no better than a well tuned eta or selitta aside maybe being anti magnetic and that's no big deal. Ginault knocked it out of the park with these... I'll keep wearing mine and buying other luxury offerings until Rolex can fix the 3235 movement.

The older ocean rover, had a Chinese copy of the ETA movement, I think they are using the real movement now.

No the older version had a in-house built copy of the SW 200 yes they were sourcing the parts from Asia to build that movement however it's much easier and more cost efficient and that is why they switched to the SW 200 not to mention all the time it saves having to build the other movement

Rolex use 904L for the bling. It has more chromium than 316L which makes it brighter and shinier, but there are drawbacks - 904L is slightly less scratch resistant than 316L and also has a shitload more nickel which some people react to - especially in humid climates where the sweat builds against the metal. It's been proven horseshit that its harder to work with. They are basically the same to machine - both a lot easier to work with than titanium. Raw 904L costs a bit more than 316L but like $20 vs $100 worth of metal means nothing at the end of the day when we're talking about Rolex prices.

That is easy Luke ceramic bezel date and cyclops so I have a rule if there is a date on a watch I really need the cyclops because of my eyesight as an auto technician the ceramic is the logical choice no scratches. With that said the no date came to me used in a deal and the domed sapphire is fantastic along with the aluminum bezel and golden sands lume it really has a vintage feel. BUT I had someone tell me they ordered one in the last week and John told them they were getting the last aluminum bezel he had so it maybe not a option unless you go second hand of course I would recommend getting brand new that way you don't get no scratches or boo boo from somebody else plus when you order a brand new this literally built specifically for you but my blue ceramic bezel the one here in the video is my favorite

Initially I thought the OR2 looked too busy with a date and I preferred the no date symmetry but I think i’m coming round to the look and I do like having a date function

Seiko snzh57 has a mineral Crystal aluminum bezel insert push pins Hollow end links a stamped clasp that only has micro adjust holes which requires tools. Ginault has a Swiss sw200 that's been regulated in five positions over 6 weeks. Seiko not regulated +40 to -20 Sec per day tolerance. Don't get me wrong the Seiko you asked me to check out is a very fine-looking watch for under $200 but no we are completely talking about apples and oranges here. When talking about Ginault it is literally on the same level of quality as Rolex tutor Omega and Grand Seiko!

It does not look like a SUB. I am sick of people calling this an homage watch because a Homage watch is a Pagani Design, or a San Martin, or even a Steinhart (which I own ten of), which produce 1-1 copies. The Ginault is its own thing and takes inspiration from many a Rolex. I am sick of this shit.

Omega makes a technically superior watch in the Seamaster and a more iconic watch in the Speedmaster. A.Lange Sohne, Patek, A.P. And many others far surpass Rolex in quality, Grand Seiko eclipses Rolex quality and does it cheaper.
