I've just discovered that seven American presidents had red hair: Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, Rutherford B. Hayes, William Howard Taft, Calvin Coolidge, and John F. Kennedy. No, Historically South Park did not come up with the " Gingers don't have souls". While they may have resurrected it in the modern era ( pun intended) it actually stems from an ancient Greek belief that Gingers would become vampires when they died. Recommendations: Timmy 2000. This one is the original Timmy episode. And the Mel Gibson episode, I believe it was called the passion of Mel Gibson, explains the throwaway line from Awesome-O " Cartman is supposed to be grounded for trying to eradicate the Jews"

In Australia, gingers get called "Rangas" as in O-rang-utan. I'm pale with freckles, but i have brown hair, so im a "Bronga" Trey and Matt got the idea for this episode after reading about a family in the UK that moved location because of the amount of abuse they recieved fir having being Ginger. They thought it so absurd, yet this episode had the opposite effect as intended, and introduced British anti-ginger prejudice to a North American audience who ran with it These days Disney race swaps classic redhead characters with other ethnic minorities.

I think the horror movies they were parodying was Village of the Damned and Children of the Corn. I remember there was a video of a ginger kid where he was ranting about gingers having a soul, but I honestly think SP did start it because like you said the Daywalker bit was a parody of Blade but also it is just an extension of the bullying Matt Stone put up with in school for being Jewish.

No, the "Gingers have no souls" did not originate with South Park, it originated in the UK by the Catholic Church towards the Pagans (Vikings) and Red Hair being a visible sign that you were Pagan/Not Christian. All non-Christians were considered soulless. South Park did however originate Kick A Ginger Day in Canada, with this episode. England is notorious for harboring some of the most extreme violence and hatred towards Red Heads, just last year a 13-year-old girl was stabbed twice in her leg for her red hair. Australia also has a reputation for hatred towards Red Heads. So Ed Sheeran's comments make a lot of sense because there was an uptick in hatred/violence towards kids with Red Hair thanks to this episode.
