Opening suggestions against E4: Top suggestion is the St George Defense (fellow Basman and Miles fan). I feel like it's strongest in a blitz format and it's a fun, quirky opening like the Black Lion or the Birds Opening. Other options I enjoy: 1. Rousseau Gambit against the Italian. 2. Calabrese Countergambit against the Bishop's Opening. I love the aggressiveness of the King's Gambit and have had fun with these openings.

I vote for the Black Lion as black and Stonewall Attack as white for next Titled Tuesday. There's really good hiking in the Washington (state in USA) Central Cascade mountains especially in August after the snow melts.

I don't understand how Titled Tuesday figures out the pairings - Eric Rosen or Gothamchess never get a 3000 rated opponent in the 2nd game, and they are rated higher than Simon.

GingerGM is better, so enemys are stronger
@anton564617 сағат бұрын
in a swiss system the players in the top 50% of the score rating wise play down. Eg there are 100 players on 2/2, then the 51st rated player plys the first rated player. So in simon's case 2670 something rating is near the top of the lower 50% so he plays one of the top guys. Last week simon was almost 2800 so he only played up in the third round. The cutoff point seems to be a little above 2700

1:14:46 Is Bxe2 a better option? Just curious
@lewis440210 сағат бұрын
I was confused also, checked with an engine and Bxa4 is +2.5 if and only if white finds Ba6! Otherwise black is winning. Bxe2 is obviously winning but guess he missed it.

Maybe I am saying non-sense as I did not check with an engine, but isn't ...Rc1+ winning @27:02 ? (And obviously I did not wait for 5 seconds to see the game ends 0-1) And the "fork" ...Nd2 @33:50 is lovely! 🙂 I cannot claim to be impartial and objective, each time Simon loses, I believe it is totally unfair!

In response to e4? Bring out your inner Nepo with a Petrov, or your inner Rosen with a Stafford gambit. Maybe a modern and hope for a "Monkey's Bum" ! How about a "Killer Bird's" course? Cheers Simon.
