Man, I literally was studying this opening yesterday, after the stonewall speedrun I became super comfortable with white, even if I lose I at least know why and how to improve, I got 60+ win rate with white, but black I kinda just play without a plan, so I decided to learn something with black to get the same experience, the French from Aman is an unbelievably pleasant surprise, now I will forever hear Aman's voice roasting me while playing, tysm for these guides brah!

Really appreciate these series, Aman. Your style is fantastic and though I haven't played any of the openings you've done so far I still learn from it. I'm also glad you do these series past 2000 now as well because as a 2050ish player I find I learn the most from those games close to my rating (say 1800+). Thanks again for all the work you do.

It's happening! You mentioned the French speedrun during earlier videos, but I was losing hope that they would be posted. I was desperate enough to spend time trawling the VODs, which was rough- I found a few but gave up after scanning dozens of long videos. Now it's served on a platter. I love my Caro (thank you, c6 speedrun), but I play e6 against d4, generally going for the English defense. So this is huge. I'm really looking forward to what you cook up against the d4 players in the intermediate range.

I found it really interesting that GM's don't have faith in this opening. Stockfish shows that the french defense is close to the best response to 1. e4. I wonder if over time GM's will start using it more often in competitive play

An example of similar middle game and pawn structute would be going after the d4 pawn in the advanced variations. A big difference between the openings is that you can actually get your bishop out in the Caro, so sometimes you use that to pressure d4 via pinning the knight. In the French you use your time to re route another knight to hit d4.

You said at 4minutes that you didn't want to trade the dark square bishops because it would help your opponent but this was right after you said that because the pawn was locked on d4 the light squares were of more import. I would like to know why trading off his more active dark square bishop would be better for him.
