I understand GNT the video explains everything you need to know about the hook kick. All it really takes is practice and I watch your videos on daily bases you and Scott Adkins are one of my favorite martial artists.

Great job! I can do this kick very well, and a ninth degree black belt told me that when doing your kick, don’t chop downward in your kick, go straight across.
@GingerNinjaTrickster12 жыл бұрын
That's great :) I'm assuming you have watched my tutorial on it? If so, do what it says when first trying it (Trampoline, Spotter, Go to an open gymnastics session, etc). Good luck and i hope you get it soon :)

Thank you Aaron! I was struggling with it because I had a habit of tilting my body while doing the spinning hook and same with the jump 360 spinning hook. I fell exactly like you did in your video :) Thanks again!!

All Hook Kicks strike with the heel or flat of the foot for range. The outer edge is used when we do outward crescent kicks, not hook kicks otherwise it would not be a hook kick. If that makes sense. The posture depends on the purpose of the kick. If it's for demonstration then it makes sense to stay upright for a nicer looking kick and better balance. In sparring, most people tend to lean so they are out of the way of the opponents techniques and you commonly see WTF go to ground doing them.

i've spent 2 years trying and failing with... pretty much all my 360 kicks... then I watched 4:04 yesterday. that's all it took to fix my 360s--hook, wheel, and crescent. crazy how one little adjustment can help so much. thanks so much for the breakdown--will definitely be pulling out a 360 speed break for my 1st dan test.

If you pause and see what would hit first it would be the heel. May look different because i am hitting his arm so i don't hit him in the face though. Well the other version is landing on your feet so it looks a lot nicer and more in control for demonstration in my opinion but that's me. Both are useful for different purposes just like i said in the previous comment so neither is wrong. I just prefer to land on my feet plus if i did the kick and fell it would not be a good tutorial lol
@GingerNinjaTrickster11 жыл бұрын
No problem :) If you want to get to a really good standard then it would be more beneficial by being taught as well as looking up pointers from tutorials. Hope that helps and good luck :)

They usually teach 360 kicks in most syllabuses but it is taught high up the grades. If you are beginner make sure you can do the more basic versions of the kick before you try it as it won't look clean and you increase your risk of getting injured. Good luck :)

Just keep working on it and i'm sure you will improve. No problem and good luck with your training :)

I find this hook variations so much harder than all roundhouse variation 360/C540 etc. Reason must be that the momentum of your spin creates all the kicking power, so when extending the leg and not being flexible enough you get the sensation your leg ripping off haha. Roundhouse variation are alot based on the snapping which I feel does not apply as much stretch to your inner ligaments. Need to stretch more to do this one. Watched all your tutorials, love em. Keep kickin Aaron :)
