You simply got to take the politics out of the courts like we do in Europe In the UK Judges are appointed on merit (ie essentially promoted from a lower position) by independent judicial appointments commissions. The candidates’ political views count for nothing, thank goodness, and are often not even known. The judiciary should keep out of politics - separation of powers, being impartial and all that. a Judges job should be to administer the law fairly, not to influence or support party dogma. questions like Roe v. Wade and The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should be put to the people in the form of a referendum without the usual Republican spin , the Judges then can just administer the law
