Gino's biggest hit in the US i think, and deservedly so. To those who consider it to be too cheesy for their sensibilities I get where you're coming from, I really do. But as a longtime Vannelli fan and having heard just about all of his music, I submit that he has been making the tàstiest gourmet cheese money can buy for over 50 years. I just hope, JP that you'll consider reacting to some less obvious choices for future videos. 'Fly Into This Night' or 'Powerful People' would be two strong choices I think. Thanks for the video!

Gino Vannelli has had some very successful songs, at least here in Brazil. Some of them are 'Living Inside Myself' and 'Hurts to Be in Love', which show the vocal power of this great singer. And, of course, if you want to hear a proggy tune with jazz, 'Powerful People'. By the way, if you like this style of music, a great one to react to is 'Biggest Part of Me' by Ambrosia.

I still enjoy this song and sing along with it. Deffo of it’s time but what a time. Brings back memories of youth and love… and romanceeeee. I can see it’s not for everyone here, not their cuppa, so be it. Harsh comments… I find it endearing. Means you care. Awe.

I enjoyed it for mainly extraneous reasons. It brought back memories from very long ago. Cold Winter's night in a town that goes to sleep early, and still quite a long way to go before home. Hitching a ride home and getting ready to crawl into some corner to try to not get frosted on. And then this car full of guys from home, but from the side of town you can get arrested for visiting stop for me. OK. We're going home. They're all quite drunk (it's deep in the night already) but very friendly. We go to a filling station, and stop there to argue with some other guys, and try to get another bottle of the good stuff. Then there's a little backtrack across town to maybe go and have a fight, but fortunately it's called off, and we start to head for home at last. And for the journey, it's music very much like this that's playing on the car stereo, much too loud for there to be any more conversation. Then the other guys on the back seat start to fall asleep or pass out. It's a bit cold, because someone decided they need open windows. A bit scary, because the driver is pretty drunk and occasionally nearly veers off the road, but apart from that it's all reasonably stable, and the music feels just right, and the driver and front passenger are really into it, sometimes getting all ecstatic, and letting go the wheel with both hands to do some kind of dance move/ gesture expression, at the best bits. I suppose they might've been gangsters, even, but my town could become a pretty violent place without that at that time (lots of construction, lots of young men working there, all going out not just to drink, but also maybe to meet up with unicorns or girls, and then finding none, and some reacting badly to the depression). The near fight I they went in search of was quite a normal thing in those parts. It was an odd combination of comfort and anxiety. (Most of the anxiety being about whether the car was going to make it home, or splatter all of us into a bridge or something.) It was good not to be all alone and freezing on a Winters night like that. And the music was good. Even the look Ma no hands grooving was kinda groovy man. You don't need hands to steer if you control the wheel with your leg. Looks like I made it home. Unless I'm dead and haven't figured that out yet, I suppose.

A feel good song all around. The romantic songs of the time usually went either Soul or Disco, and I think Gino made the correct choice on this.

Wow. This track garnered some crybaby reactions from several of the hipster posers who follow you. IMO this is the most radio-friendly of the tracks from “Brother to Brother”…however, there’s no doubt that Gino Vanelli could do a cover of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and it’d still be a satisfying listen.
