Gino Vannelli Bert van den Brink first duo performance Utrechts conservatory 20 04 2008

When Gino and I met in 2007 at a concert of the Bert van den Brink trio with Hein van de Geyn on bass and Hans van Oosterhout on drums I could not imagine that this moment would mark the beginning of the cooperation between Gino and me. After a few rehearsals I went to his studio in the Portland area for the recording of quite a few tracks of Gino's album "a good thing".
What a thrilling experience to perform for such a musician with high demands but I love that! I guess I did not disappoint Gino and for me it was wonderful to be reflected on such a high level.
Concerts were planned in the Netherlands and the very first time we had a try out at the conservatory of Utrecht where I teach.
This try out has been recorded just straight ahead with a camera and a few mikes in the venue.
It is a nice document and a sweet memory full of warmth, spontaneousness and a deep level of performing and expression.
It marked the beginning of a lot of wonderful concerts that we have given afterwards.
