I never ever, ever, ever get tired of Gino Vannelli!!! I am 1 year younger than he is. I heard a little about him in the 80's. I never listened to his music then. I started 🎶 listening to his music and WATCHING him 😃 in the early to mid 2,000's. I missed out on a lot of his talent and genius. Oh, but since then I did a LOT of catching up. I am addicted. Every time, and I do mean EVERY time I hear him and see his pictures, that's it. He draws me right in and holds my attention and my energy levels are THROUGH the ROOF! Nothing else matters at that time. My poor mother would hear me talk about MY Italian Stallon and his music a lot. She would just look at me shake her head and she knew every time, every single time I took my Gino Vannelli drug I was in another 🎶😏 whole new 🌎 world. I must say that she would listen and watch his video's sometimes too. I would get her motivated when she listened to Gino's song, You Gotta Move. I'm VERY SAD 😥 to say she passed away over a week ago. I was her care taker for 6 1/2 years, 24/7 straight. I kid you not. She means the 🌎 world to me. I am really devastated. I will just have to go on without her. I feel ❤ her presence every day. I know Gino lost his mother to Covid. I know it was a big blow to him. I feel so sad about his loss. Sorry to end my comments on such a sad note. I feel his pain. I hope that he is a l right I am in pain about losing my mother too. I will end my comments here for now.

I would LOVE to see a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame dedicated to Gino and his brothers. brothers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I would need to ask for his permission first. There are several steps that will need to be taken if he would give his permission to do so. Gino is such a humble gentleman. He would probably decline an offer like that. Gino was the best of the era. There was no talent like his. Stevie Wonder, and few others. When Gino first came about he was appreciated in the musical community as the first ‘jazz fusion’ pop artist although no one quite voiced it that way. For young jazz musicians Gino’s pop was as hip as anything. His music with Joe’s immense talents and always great bands, they took the world by a storm and in the midst of the disco era when pop music was changing so much, and before the post-modern new wave had hit. After that point, Gino’s genius, soul, passion and spiritual message seemed from another age. He was a true original, and yet the culmination of the age of jazz singers, big band, soul music, the Italianate song and rock.
@stretchedbag19632 жыл бұрын
I agree with your comments 100% I saw Gino and Joe early on in their careers in a night club in Ottawa, early 70’s. Blew everyone away with their professionalism and sheer musicality as well as a healthy dose of bombast, as much as I ever witnessed in a live act. A few years later when Brother to Brother came out I saw him again in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens (with Segarini opening). Again, a top notch show with an expanded band, real bass guitar and lead guitar along with the massive banks of keyboards and all the hoopla of an arena rock show circa 1978. What was his message? Love, peace and humanity. The audience lapped it up as very few of us in the crowd had become cynical (that came late) and we’re willing to listen to and wallow in the giant wave of emotion that Gino’s music generated. I was sitting with a friend and when I could hold the tears no longer I glanced over and my friend was crying too! Unashamed male admiration of another male, strutting his stuff, but completely in sync with our own heterosexuality !! All that is gone now, it dried up in the 1980’s and by the early 90’s the only thing left was cynicism, ennui, heroin and death. Been there done that. The 1970’s era during which Gino was a global star was, to me, a “fuelled” hopped up version of the 60’s. The idealism yet to be stripped away and pounded out of the publics brain. Glad to have experienced it in my own small way. Cheers

Gino never needed all that Hollywood hype to prove he had appeal. A Gemini man never has to prove his appeal; fellow Geminis always "get it." I can't understand why he let them exploit his exquisite physical perfection, when his music spoke for itself. He could have covered himself in mud or wrapped himself in a burlap sack and it wouldn't have mattered. That unique voice with its seemingly endless range still knocks my bloody socks off!
