One day perhaps the rest of the world will come to realize what we've known and loved for nearly 50 years now, which is, of course, that Gino Vannelli is a musical genius who has always operated at a level so far beyond anyone else it's difficult to classify him in any one particular group or style, he, and his group are just simply light-years above and beyond all others! He and his music was the soundtrack of my youth, and I thank him and God for it! Are Ya Listenin?

Up to 4 weeks ago I had NEVER heard of Gino Vanelli. I am an electronics musician. I came across him on a random music ad. Since then I have began to review music. He IS an absolute game changer for me. What an absolute genius. And the horrible thing is, he was Never recognised as such by the public at large. What about injustice

I heard him in 1975 while in Montreal he made such an impression on me I stayed in Montreal hoping to meet him. I was playing with several bands finally met some who knew him and some who played with him anyway his cousin Rick Vanelli played in a band I joined. Still I never got to meet him he was a rising star and hard to track down. I made all my friends love him hehe

Awesome yes, but the term “musical genius” is inappropriate and used far too often these days to describe very talented musicians whose work simply doesn’t merit the term......Mozart, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein...Geniuses ALL without a doubt....Gino Vannelli will never be mentioned in the same category 2 or 3 centuries from now.

@@borgullet3376 We’re talking about the category of “Genius” being used...it’s irrelevant what field.... Gino: Innovative, creative Yes, not a Genius that will go down in the annals of history in the field of Music.....sorry he does not rate with Mozart, Beethoven et al No comparison based on the contribution to Music....Call him what he is, but Genius is reserved for a contribution to The Ages that can never be refuted

In 1975 I was in Canada playing with a band and one of them introduced me to the Storm at Sunup album. My whole band were just blown away by the album; this was music like we'd never heard back in the UK. It was on the turntable so much that, when we left to go home, I had to buy a new copy for the guy whose original album I'd pretty much worn out. Phenominal stuff, still sounds brilliant and fresh almost 50 years later...

Never saw it coming...was shocked, after the HUGE show at Cobo Hall here in Detroit. Way different, way cool.

I was at both shows too. I believe he was at Industry twice. Also saw him in mid 2000's twice at Music Hall downtown Detroit. Excellent shows always. Can't helpbut notice he goes thru an awfully lot of talented musicians.
