Hard to believe this has been on KZbin for 17 years. I bet I've watched it a 100 times over the years. Sometimes you get the right mix of musicians and it's magical. Just like this is.

It is unbelievable how you can have so many musicians on one stage, each one an absolute master of their craft/instrument, each one absolutely stealing the show, but staying out of each other's way for the good of the performance. This is what astronomical talent without ego is capable of

@@JBTFan124 art is subjective. Every person will have their own take. Look at their faces. All of them were 'in the groove' and feeding off of each other. We can opine all we want, but the only opinions that matter concerning the performance is theirs. Why I said 'ask them'. Critics of any art are about as useful as tits on a marlin...but hey, that's just my opinion. Rock on!

Willy Waldman's trumpeting transports this version of Cortez the Killer from great to other wordly. When he comes back into the song after Joe's guitar solo the notes he blows sound as if he's announcing the arrival of a Spanish galions onto shore. It certainly got Grace's attention as she looked over at him with this "are you kidding me" smile.

So many groups have played this cover that I believe it has become a staple standard paying respects to the original song. Still my favorite artist to play this cover song.

12 years on and this cover still blows me away. Yup, Satriani is a fantastic guitar innovator and yes, Grace is amazing singing and yes Reed Mathis is keeping a nasty groove going and my god, what about Willy jammin' on the trumpet....but it's really the combined power of ALL involved during this one rare moment in time that combine to create this masterpiece. No matter what, I'll still return to this even 20 years later.

Masterpiece. This is so emotional. Look at Joe's face. He is in another place. He is looking into the story behind the song. It is really very emotional.

I was like "man, if he could go up one more octave, chill bumps. But no room on the neck". As Joe pops a harmonic that shatters glass.

Why have I never heard of Grace Potter before?? Why does the music industry push / force the shit female (and male for that matter) so called artist on the masses that they play on MTV etc. Yet, beautiful and extremely talented musicians like this Grace Potter remain relatively unheard of.....What a beautiful voice!

It I felt like it was gonna end with her telling the audience what lucky mother fuckers they are to have been there...including herself. The drummer's smile at the end echoes the same. Willy leaps around and Joe trances out...they're right there for it. Buckle up and hit the replay button, fool.

This is truly one of the best random supergroup performances ever. It's all been said in the comments but the one thing I haven't seen mentioned is Steve Kimock (an amazing guitar player in his own right) just chilling in the middle of this sound bubble smiling. I often wish to trade places with him for these 6+ minutes and just exist in that plane without having to do anything but play chords and get lifted off the face of the earth!
