I don't want to spend hours figuring something out and battling the nessicary bosses. To have some game junky with PR pull getting everything nerfed because they think it's to easy. Why even play why even search for something? When some guy who has played over a 100 different play throughs to cry and make the game not funn. Didn't they improve the Thorns tracking though? That's how it read. I do remember that it had godawful tracking that missed at a distance most of the time. Seemed to be good at close range (or at anything that just stood perfectly still)

@@jahrfuhlnehm All 3 Thorns will now Track the target, but Damage and Bleed buildup was decreased. So overall, you will hit with all 3 a lot of the times, but it doesn't do the insane damage that nearly insta-kills everything. It's still a decent spell to use.

Basically, since all 3 thorns will hit from a distance now (whereas before only one would hit reliably), it actually does more damage and only about 25% less bleed buildup than before.

So the putrescence spells do build frost but the reason it was working on Mesmer is that whenever he buffs his spear with his flame he actually cleanses it. I was doing a hand to hand run with frost and it would proc but whenever he threw the fire in the air and stabbed it he wouldn’t have frost on him anymore.

Most bosses either take projectiles to the face from a distance while doing nothing/stand in a pool of lava while doing nothing, or instantly input read to dodge, so you switch to night spells to be fully braindead. Souls AIs are very bad, and magic builds expose the worst aspects of them.

@GinoMachino I would like to see a run starting in base game, going into DLC, but you are only allowed to use 1 weapon of each class per boss, so if you used the Halo Scythe for Margitt, you are no longer allowed to use it for any other boss, and in the DLC you have to use 1 weapon from at least 4 of the 8 newly added weapon classes

Thank you for saying it’s tough to be a mage in the DLC. It felt incredible to not cheese the final boss with thorns. Had to redo my tactics a bit, but consort and I had it out. So satisfying. But so many of the bosses move SO MUCH that getting solid casts in is always a challenge, haha. And yeah, some of the new spells aren’t the BEST - but they are spectacular to behold.

It doesnt hit nearly as hard as you think. I dodged a couple times but couldnt get it right, and theres no shield that lets you cast spells, so when I noticed it didnt hit nearly as hard as it looked like it would I just used the shield thats got a face portrait of me.

Tbh the dlc got borderline fuck all, thorns got nerfed to junk aswell. The people that tell you its still good are like level 300 with god knows how many scadu fragments. Ive done every run without a single fragment, thorns has gone from busted to fking trash. For 150 bleed build up, health cost & average damage, its cast time is way too fking slow. Its borderline useless against every dlc boss, there are significantly better spells & weapons.

Night comet with staff of loss is still a very solid sorcery. Especially npc fights, because they do not dodge the invisible sorceries. You can chunk big damage when all boosted up too. A tad simple and possibly boring, but still one of the strongest sorceries in the game, with a relatively low fp cost.

Honestly, it's funny how different this run would've been if it was started only a few days later. Also, for anyone that doesn't want to have to deal with summoning Hornsent so he doesn't appear in the Leda fight, just exhaust his & Leda's dialogue after the Golden Hippo fight, then invade him at the Storehouse elevator with Leda before you trigger Messmer's fight for the first time.

I'm assuming the ritual sword doesn't actually work with thorns, since it inflicts self damage, so replacing that with a different talisman would pump the already absurd damage even higher. To late to see that upper limit now though.

Great video but on with my rant... When any game reads the player's control inputs and responds to them respectively I actually like being "overpowered". In an rpg game like elden ring where no matter if you're a god gamer or not if your ego gets too big or you mess up once or thrice it spells your death being "overpowered" means nothing. Complain about overpowered things if you play pvp, if you don't play pvp then stop using the "overpowered" stuff and use other things. And I find it funny how people think certain weapons, spells and items are overpowered yet the cheese with bosses isn't, i.e Melania with unseen form and assassin's gambit or the dragon sentinel by crouch walking outside his detection range to get behind him, and then putting them in a German gas chamber while you go unnoticed is asinine

Things that get nerfed should be a pvp only nerf. Though every game I play "input reads," I feel its depending on the mechanics, not on the computer cheating (what "input reading" really is). Watching after the Impenetrable Thorns nerf, and its still a VERY good spell. I liked the spell Microcosm, which is somehow a "finger" sorcery. Its a tiny black hole without the suck. Ill probably watch the whole thing cause I like that he didnt call it "Can you beat..." with op stuff. Strangely, I couldnt jump Rellanas twin moons, but dodging and blocking worked fine.
