It is a different take, but the choices seem to have been made simply to differentiate her performance from the original, and they weren't made for any artistic merit. The fact that they cut out Arthur's part shows they are hacks.

This is a clip from Broadway. Arthur’s part being missing is a result of someone editing the clip, not the show. Obviously.

She has a great voice, but her range is not really a match for this song. It's not just supposed to be sung "silly", it's supposed to be dramatically soulful and pop. But her range is very classical.

According to you. Marin Mazzie was an absolute gem of musical theatre and a legend in her own right. Maybe it isnt what you're used to, but thats the beauty of theatre. Every new actor has a different take and brings themselves to the role. That's why they were cast... but I'm sure you know better than the casting directors who cast a Tony winner... yeah, fucking right. Get over yourself. Sara Ramirez is not the end-all be-all of this role. In fact after she left and in the UK production, most people cast were much closer to Marin than Sara. So, the producers must have liked something about her take to find performers more like her for the role than Sara... but again, you wrote it I'm sure and produced it and directed it so you know it better than anyone. LMFAO

@@elphbwckd212 Nah. First of all every other version of this song you can find does it the Ramirez way. Also being a tony winner doesn't make you perfect for every part. Also you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand the humor and the joke of the song. It's very evidently written to be sung in a humorurous way. It's written as an R&B/Soul song.
