Giorgia first appearance was in Sanremo 1994 ("Newcomers" section) with 'E poi' which eventually arrived 7th in the competition; that year Andrea Bocelli won Sanremo Newcomers (at the time the final was on Friday night, the day before the Big final) with "Il mare calmo della sera". 'E poi' anyway soon became the most popular song of Sanremo 1994; for this reason the following year Giorgia could compete in the Big Section of Sanremo and she won with 'Come saprei'; Andrea Bocelli was 5th with "Con te partirò" ('Time to say Goodbye'). In 1995 Giorgia and Bocelli sung together "Vivo per lei' which had a massive success in Italy and across Europe. P.S. In Sanremo 2024 Giorgia opened the Festival with her first hit "E poi", which she sung separately. That was the song's 30th anniversary.

Something many singers don't understand you don't need to use all your lungs power all the time to be a good singer. Giorgia could literally break glasses with her voice but she has learned to play with the texture, the colour of her voice and work on its many ""shades"... I believe in her case listening to her with closed eyes it's even more fascinating.... my fave songs remain "Marzo" and "Strano il mio destino" but also "Scelgo ancora te" or "Tu mi porti su" where her voice has such an uplifting vibe 😊 also for those who didn't know Giorgia after her first Sanremo she in 1994 she was invited by Luciano Pavarotti to take part to his charity event and together with the orchestra she performed "Who wants to live forever" by the Queen and she was amazing uou might want to check that out...😊

This year Amadeus decided to celebrate 3 historical Sanremo's songs from - 30 (Giorgia - E Poi) - 40 (Eros Ramazzotti - Terra Promessa) - and 60 (Gigliola Cinquetti - Non ho l'Età) years ago. They all performed an interval act with that single song of their. In addition, Giorgia made this medley. Marco Mengoni as well performed a long and beautiful medley, after a rendition of Due Vite.

Andy, if you are in love with the song "di sole e d'azzurro" then I recommend Giorgia's version in Sanremo 2001. Absolutely fantastic, divine, exceptional.

She won San Remo in 1994 in section giovani - with E poi, than in 1995 she won in section affirmed artists with Come saprei (the last song in this medley - just perfect, written by Eros Ramazzotti), in 1996 she came third with Strano e il mio destino. No, she didn't win in 1993 with "E poi", she came 7th!!!! Incredible, right? Boccelli won in the young section. The song became a classic though ❤ She won in 1995 with Come saprei and then in 1996 she took the 3rd place with Strano il mio destino

Andy, se sei innamorato della canzone "di sole e d'azzurro" allora ti consiglio la versione di Giorgia a Sanremo 2001. Assolutamente fantastica, divina, eccezionale.

That last song is called "Come saprei" (I'm sure someone already told you). She won Sanremo in 1995 with that song and pretty much all the other prizes of the Festival (critics award, authors awards, radio and tv award). It is a particular song because of its technical and vocal difficulties, but as you said, she seems to hit that notes almost effortless (and I'm sure it's not so easy :P). It was her second appearance in Sanremo I think... the year before competed in the newcomers group with "E poi". I recommend you to listen to "Cambiare" singed by her on a tribute concert to Alex Baroni. Alex was a really talented singer and won Sanremo in 1997 with that song. He tragically died in an accident few years later... and he and Giorgia were a couple till few months before the accident. Giorgia is super talented. Some can't stand her "melisma" but I have to say that it doesn't bother me that much. I genuinely think she a great singer and also quite funny! May I ask you if you had the chance to whatch IRAMA's Live performance of "TU NO" from Sanremo? I'd like to know your thoughts. He finished 5th, he's consistently in the Top 5. Grazie

@@msimunic Cercando di semplificare diciamo che il melisma è un ornamento melodico, un abbellimento, che consiste nel caricare più note su una sola sillaba con una modulazione dell'intonazione. Banalmente sono tutti quei "gorgheggi" che spesso lei fa e che a tanti danno un po' fastidio, soprattutto se ripetuti insistentemente nell'arco di una sola canzone.
