My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me...the father, founder and pioneer of EDM and the Modern Electrónic / The Sound Of The Future.

There ought to be an expanded 2 cd re-release of the score. One cd would have the original 1979 release that alot of people love because of it's pop tracks, the next cd containing the darker, more serious version of the score that accompanied the film & which won Giorgio an oscar.

@keith904A6 жыл бұрын
Can just about remember it! Some people thought it was a gimmick or novelty but for others it was groundbreaking. Synthesizers were associated mainly with prog rock bands influenced by classical music. Moroder blew all that away and brought the synth to dance music but in a completely different way to the American Soul/Funk/Disco that was considered "dance" at the time. He was also a huge influence on New Wave, something often forgotten, such as is his legacy as the founding father of virtually all modern dance music. Hope that gives a concise answer.

"Chase is an electronic instrumental by Giorgio Moroder from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack and album Midnight Express (1978), then extended and released as maxi single and made the Hot 100 singles charts in January of 1979. Although originally branded as disco, the song is considered to be, along with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love", a pioneer of the hi-NRG genre that came to prominence in the early 1980s."

Eurobeat, dance-pop, and freestyle artists like Shannon, Stock Aitken Waterman, Taylor Dayne, Freeez or Michael Sembello were also labeled as "Hi-NRG" when sold in the United States." You're stuck on the nomenclature. I just quoted. I personally spell it high-energy, and most people of the disco era should have caught on.
