The biggest frustration is when I as a Lifeweaver/Lucio/Moira/etc. somehow manage to finally kill the enemy tank on point after an intense minute of 1v1ing, just to watch the enemy Mercy casually fly in front of me to revive him in like three seconds

In those 3 seconds she can easily be interrupted 💀 just boop or platform her. Your DPS should also shoot at her. (if she's out in the open ofc. If she's behind a wall or something, I agree it's frustrating) As a Mercy player I would actually like it if Resurrect were to be replaced with another ability. Give her burst healing on a cooldown maybe. Or a new, fun and interactive ability. Just not resurrect.

As someone who only played mercy when i was support in OW1, i agree, however i dont think discord orb is comparable to mercys damage boost, considering one affects a single enemy and is easily removed, while the other affects a teanmate who can now deal more damage to everyone. edit: i said this bc you can either avoid discord orb entirely or force de zen out by playing corners, but you cant do anything against damage boost except to kill the mercy, wich can be very difficult depending on how good they are. plus, zen has no mobility and mercy can fly.

Discord is worse tho. Yes the mercy pocketed person can do dmg to anyone. But you usually only hit 1 person with a bullet. So it is not relevant. The discorded target is always the tank. Breaking LOS to remove discord makes the tank give up space and that is way too much for a no cooldown spammable ability. And discord makes the target take extra dmg from ALL sources. So it has the effect of mercy dmg boosting 5 people if they focus on that target. Like the video said. We are comparing sh1t to sh1t

She definitely needs a rework and tweaks for more skill expression, and to make her feel less infuriating to play against. instead of turning your brain off with her GA. There is a big difference between mercy mains and otps tho. I recently became a mercy main because i fell in love with how satisfying her gameplay and movement feel, however i used to be a tracer/widow/ana main so i have the mechanics required for other characters yet i still get put in the "braindead mercy player" category and i think it's unfair. I think there is nothing wrong with having easy and hard characters in the game and you shouldn't be shamed for liking an easy character nor does it define how skillful of a player you are, and also just because a character is easy doesn't mean it should be useless? At the end of the day we all just wanna play a character we enjoy and that character is mercy for a lot of people. Now i can understand that she can be unfun to play against but so are a lot of characters (sombra, ball, hanzo, widow...) Now i'll admit i understand that damage boost is not the healthiest thing for the game but i don't even care that much about it like if it got changed tomorrow id be like ok, what i truly like about her is how different she feels from other characters and her movement is just so fun to use. Mercy on the other hand is annoyance by herself + she amplifies someone who might be even more annoying + gl killing her in her ult if you are say name_closerange_character The only reason I prefer playing against mercy than other annoying characters is that in case you have sombra/widow/ball etc it's around 50/50 (rank around gm). You either get a dummy who tries new characters in comp or an absolute menace who will roll you. In mercy case it's 80/20ish with 80 being a fella who think that if they are pocketing around the corner they can get their hand off the keyboard. Zenyatta has weak heals without his ult, he is a flex support. Zen discorbing ONE person and them dying, then making him wait 6 seconds before popping a new one isn't as good as "Now we'll do like 25% more damage to everyone and there ain't jack shit you can do about it." I agree that it's not the best support ult, but- Mercy: Heals a moderate amount to one target, basically ensuring consistent sustain. Applies an effect that makes it so every enemy in your line of sight may as well be discorded. If you DO manage to kill the enemy, which is literally impossible for a few characters, if she's being a little baby and hiding behind her team like normal she just rezzes them. Insane movement makes her nigh-impossible to keep track of, especially if you're playing against a good one. Does jack shit if you manage to ult down her entire team, very weak in general outside of teamfights. A parasite. Meanwhile, Zenyatta: Heals a small amount to one target, ensuring prolonged sustain, but not infinite sustain. Very frail himself, so difficult to keep heals on one highly mobile target out of line of fire or on flanks. Applies an effect where ONE enemy in your line of sight is discorded to everyone on the team. You may say that Damage Boost is worse since it's 5-1 instead of 1-5, but have you ever tried coordinating a dive with Zenyatta? There's like 3 characters who can do that. No movement abilities, meaning that killing him in a hectic fight is possible. If you DO manage to kill the enemy, not much happens. Zenyatta just applies an orb to someone else. Can actually hold his own once the rest of his team is gone, and has a chance to swing team fights with his very powerful, EXPENSIVE ultimate. If you insist on arguing the ultimate point, how about this? Mercy is basically a flying, highly-mobile mini-transcendence in Valkyrie. OR she's an even more annoying highly mobile Supercharger. She can rush you down and since she's so fast you can't do much due to her self-heal if you're widow, ana, ashe, Hanzo, etc. Zenyatta is a non-flying, semi-mobile full Trancendence that can't counter every ultimate and severely impacts your DPS output once used. It's a major commitment to activate, since it's basically saying that you don't believe anyone will pop a second ultimate in the near future. How to get: Valkyrie: Sit down and shoot yellow beams for a minute. Trance: Actually do something and make yourself semi-vulnerable in the best case situations. Yeah, nobody's gonna be complaining about Trancendence any time soon.

My story with mercy went like this - I got sadly bored and burned out with tf2 back in 2017 and since they copied the medic which helped me find my calling in online games which was healing people and humbling all flankers who dared to go after me - just changed his gender and took away fun ways to deal dmg it was no brainer. She was uncomparably easier and kinda boring cause of simplicity, didnt require as much skill too but the healing was satisfying plus the mobility and i was scared of being yelled at for playing poorly at aim based supports. So I mained her for first two years, played almost nothing but her. Funny thing is I dont know what exactly happened but maybe once I got a bit bored with her and frustrated Im so dependant on team to have a good match, that im this leech, that I cant do more than one thing at the time and I can do only three in total and a buncha other stuff so I tried other supports for more than usual. The freedom,the ablility to do dmg and take out that one enemy who is low but everyone ignores for some reason, no need to follow anyone etc. - at that point I went from loving mercy to feeling disgusted by her and anyone who plays her and feels all high and mighty because they got carried to highest ranks by the team and now act like some hot stuff. I will never play that hero again. And its funny how people who play her are so scared to acknowledge that she is simple and very easy and then try to add some vail of game sense and other voodoo. I got 200 hours on her and she really is the simplest character in the game. Dont try to act like playing her is hard. Im well aware its not. Im starting to sense something is very wrong with her existance but unhealthy is what it is for now since I cant really put my finger on it.

I feel like there’s a good group of us that do hear your complaints and have been trying to push for more positive changes. The developers I feel like are so out of touch and are too focused on bandaid changes and dodging her issues and they have been chipping at her skill expression in the wrong ways and just pushing her more and more and more into something no one wants. The being able to change your sensitivity on her gun was a good change for example, but taking away the skill to perform a superjump and use it correctly, was not. All of this new movement she got hindered her in both fun and skill. Mass Rez I don’t necessarily know or think was healthy or unhealthy, I didn’t play back then but her rework was so overpowered that it lead to some serious issues with the hero. A lot of Mercy players are so vocal because they *did* make her more and engaging and fun and everything they have done since has lead her to nerfing anything engaging and fun about the hero even if those nerfs are needed. Mercy mains are bitter, I’m bitter at this point. I like the sensitivity on her gun change because now I can *actually* practice my aim without compromising my movement and muscle memory. I can now have a way to practice on my favorite hero a skill that I can transfer to another, I can now defend myself, and get kills myself. My aim no longer needs to be as compromised. I think Valk needs a rework, I think Rez needs a rework (although there’s a big part of me that doesn’t want to lose it), I think they need a flat number for GA, they insist on super jump being a button press it should have a separate cool down, idk that’s what all I can think of right now

It's really nice to see someone put some priority on the idea of skill and value, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing mercy's value come from her movement. Another thing about damage boost thats unfair on top of the changing breakpoints is how quickly the pocketed dps gets ult,popular pockets like echo,pharah and ashe can get their ults every team fight it feels. It also makes counter picking more difficult if you dont have a mercy pocket because they can easily switch and not worry about losing ult charge.

If this is all you absorbed from the video then thats on you. Valk gives Mercy privileges she doesnt deserve. Omni directional movement. Infinite ammo which CAN cause her to have an advantage mid fight during a reload since not many heroes get infinite ammo with or without an ultimate. She gets extended range on her beam which will link to extra teammates which means 60hps basically within aoe while most AOE healing in the game which is problematic even at 11 to 15hps with Brig and Lucio (not even speaking on Moira and Bap, the latter requiring aim to maximize on the healing if your teammates dont stack on each other) Never you mind basically having AOE damage boost in valk in the same fashion. While being one of the MOST movement heavy characters in the game even if it does require a teammate. And thats before even considering Rez which is JUST as bad as an immortality mechanic. Sure bap and kiri can immo multiple players but Mercy can undo her teammates mistakes that lead to them getting killed, and behind a wall just like bap immo field AND the timer is extended in overtime. TLDR: what you mercy mains miss in the argument against your character is that you have plenty of privileges you dont deserve in exchange for playing an easier character who is less likely to pull off her own solo kills. You also get paid handsomely in value for not learning to aim and for the same level of game sense that all heroes require. The character is just spectator mode ultimate edition.

I was Lucio and dva main in OW1 but when i first played overwatch 2 I wanted to try something different and I tried playing every hero but something about mercy’s movement just feels so satisfying so I tried her out a bit more. She was boring but simple to play at first but when I learned the full extent of her Ga and a few techs like the SJ rez I had a lot of fun. I wasn’t mechanically skilled at the time so I ended up picking her a lot but when I felt like I wasn’t ranking up alot I switched to Moira and ended up ranking to gold usually doing the most damage on my team (which is likely since she doesn’t take much to play as). Now that I am with Gold Dps with better aim, mercy felt a bit better to play. But she felt very team dependent so I switched to ana to improve my aiming and ranked to plat! I tried getting my friends to play but they didn’t like the game so I ended up soloQ mercy alot which tends to go badly. So from my experience she was a beginner friendly character that also punishes you if you play in beginner lobbies. Her whole kit is pretty basic and little skill to utilise it but her movement is where you can separate the good from bad, though being good at movement will likely get you nowhere as all it helps you is not die and sometimes stall point. I’m not a fan of her damage boost as pocketing is boring, so I’m hoping for a rework(though the triage healing passive, now removed, was really nice but promoted a healbot play style which felt also boring. There was also a change to the cooldown on GA which punishes you with a longer cool-down if you do more movement leaving her even more vulnerable. The only time I have fun is when I’m in valk, flying into the fight and spinning and zipping around, drawing attention from my team. I love the feeling of dodging all their attacks making use of her wings hitbox to block bullets from hitting my head. And when there’s a sniper in my range I love to sling shot and kill them. Feels nice in valk. And pulling of risky rezzes gives me so much adrenaline. Though I understand how rez just feels annoying to go against and id be completely ok to get it removed, same as dmg boost. Yeah but that’s my experience from playing as a soloQ mercy… mixed bag of feelings

Look, I absolutely despise Mercy and always have since OW 1 came out, but the hate for damage boost is kind of insane honestly. The numbers could be tuned down but everyone thinks its mere existence is broken when it’s a very basic support ability in most games. Mercy has 0 damage output without it and 2 players should always be stronger than 1. You should need to coordinate with at least 1 other person to kill someone pocketed by Mercy.

buddy no. damage boost is outrageous and doesn’t belong in the game. I just went against a damage boosted tracer and he ended an attack match with 15,000+ damage and 40 plus elims when his team didn’t even make up half of that. it literally shouldn’t happen. I wasn’t even the one dying to him but because he could eradicate my team at will I would get outnumbered and die or back out the fight to regroup. mercy should not be able to press one button and enable a slightly better person to wipe a team in a TEAM SHOOTER.

Thanks god someone that understand the value/skill ratio that mercy has. What that mean that mercy main are just boosted by their character, most of the time the only other character that they know how to play is moira. Which is literally the easiest character in the game, but does not have any value compared to mercy or even kiriko, so when a mercy main/otp switch to moira in your game, ggs guys it’s over.

I think that a good rework for blue beam would be to make it a chargeable projectile and instead of a damage boost to maybe be a cooldown regeneration of like 15% and the charge should be like 1-1.5 seconds. What do you think?

For example blue beam now has 4 secinds max uptime in meter with 10 seconds wait to fully refill and 2 sec cooldown on running empty, but healing refunds beam faster, and another nerf is that it doesnt boost crits, just the base damage of the ability gor ex cass HS doing 157.5 instead of 175 (she boost 25% from 70 not 140) but also give the ally slightly faster movement speed and lowered cooldowns. Add back reactove boosting and she would be able to bounce around teammates so she cna heal to regain boost and use boost to more targets. Then replace rez with either defnesive util or a mini valk and give her a new ultimate

As a chronic mercy main, let me explain my situation: due to abuse in my past, I have irreversible and severe hand tremors, and these affect all of the games that I play, but shooters the most. I enjoy overwatch, but due to this, mercy is the only character that I can play and not suck ass with. I believe that mercy takes skill to play, and I've been able to climb the ranks with her, something that I could never do in any other shooter because of my condition. Mercy is not required on your team for you to win, like brig and sojourn used to be, and in this state, I think that she is fine where she is at, and she gives an outlet for players like me to actually enjoy a shooter that is tuned to us as well.

Honestly, the most unhealthy support character is Moira. She doesn't require aiming, she doesn't require parental love, she doesn't require almost anything, she's simply a beginner character to start playing. Then a veteran player arrives and takes this character that in the hand of a beginner is balanced, but when the veteran takes it he does as many kills as the dps, heals a lot and does not die since Moira has A LOT of survival skills. She was my first main as a support and was a great crutch to help me play, but honestly... I hate playing against her, she kills me in an unfair way because she doesn't need any aiming skill or anything, you die because you have no option.

@@wintonoverwat Her healing is very strong, her dps is very strong, she recovers life by doing damage, she recovers life with healing orb, no need to aim, and if everything goes wrong and you are about to die, press Shift and go to a safe place. She is clearly a character made for beginners. ( I myself was already main moira when I started playing ). Like I said: In the beginner's hand it is balanced, but in the veteran's hand it can be main heal and behave like a third dps at the same time.

mercy damage boost beam needs to be a deployable like soldier's heal or illari pylon. only damage in one area, and then her heal beam stays while her alt fire changed to some sort of skill shot. That way her healing and damage boost remain easy to do but dmg boost not as oppressive while giving her something skillful to shoot. This would remove her pistol tho, or keep it i dont know how much of a difference that would make

When I wanna play support but I'm too lazy to actually think of what I do. I play Mercy. I can literally turn my brain off, stick the stick up my teammates bum and just press shift, space or control. I genuinely can't think of a character that's is this braindead. She's a wonderful character in game lore, but she's so boring to play. I am a spectator of the match just by playing Mercy, and I can only do "more" by calling out a Widow on the balcony of Havana. Which everyone with eyes and a brain can see and be aware of how dangerous that is. I play Ana and Moira most of the time cause I legit get challenged when I play them. And even if Moira is a "right click, get a kill" character. At least I have to do something besides carry someone's bum with heals and damage boost. I take part in the game's out come. Playing Mercy is just letting people do their thing even if it means me falling asleep during the game. I also play Lifeweaver and arguably you can do the same with him. But at least you change the perspective of how do you play the game and get to play once you have tree or when your team is full health. You don't get to do that as Mercy, you just follow the DPS or Tank.

I'm medal ranks, 38 with a full time job, girlfriend I see two-three times a week, D&D almost every Monday, so I don't just get to sit and grind Overwatch like I used to. But lately, in my rank: Moira needs to be forced to stop damaging once in a while. Far too easy for her to just hold left click and get more value than any hero deserves. This shouldn't even be a thing in a game like this, I don't care if it doesn't affect high-level players as they're more than capable of dealing with it. My teammates frequently are not (or pretend as much) which means she just focuses me whenever an enemy player realizes I'm getting any value whatsoever. Mercy needs to not get so much value from evading death while not having to do any of her own damage. Soldier 76's damage needs to be vastly lowered on console, or they need to find a way to block XIM, as every Soldier I face lately is cracked out of his gourd and EFFORTLESSLY never ever misses a shot (which means we're screwed if the tank refuses to engage with him and blames the DPS for being out DPS'd by aimbot soldierboy.) I don't XIM, so even swapping to mirror him leaves me at a disadvantage way more often than it should. Pharah needs to be FORCED to touch the ground more often. I thought she was, but it appears there are still ways to keep flying, and thus evading 99 percent of the shots from anyone bronze through platinum, I imagine, if they even have the sense to try to do anything about her. I never thought I'd say this, as an off-and-on DVa main, but she's waaaaaaaaaaaay too darn strong right now and shouldn't be able to matrix away 90 percent of the damage my team does while refusing to swap to beam heroes or give her enough reasons to actually use up Matrix so we can damage her. Mauga needs to be more killable, even when he is using his cooldowns and getting double pocketed (or, like I said, Mercy needs to not be able to evade while not having to do her own damage to get SO MUCH value) and Reinhardt deserves massive buffs or some relevant rework to bring him in line with OW2 heroes. Invisibility should not be a thing in a game like this. Even though I enjoy playing Sombra on occasion, sometimes to the extent where I feel like I have to play her because their DPS heroes *never seem to miss*, so not being able to see me feels like my only shot at doing anything against them. Heck I'd swap to tank if I could, as a lot of my struggles seem exacerbated by timid tank players who don't understand the concept of doing anything other than getting eliminations and putting their team down. And I think the ranking system should attempt to place us not only with people near our rank, but with people who aren't clearly dominating every match and maybe don't play the game religiously. Or vice-versa depending on circumcstances But yeah, Overwatch 2 is perfectly balanced, no notes.

If her res feels so bad deny it. I play kiriko along with mercy, same rank, and always know when a mercy will res. If I’m not able to deny it too bad. So, my only question is why didn't you talk at all about her movement. Not a mercy main, but I play her every now and then probably my 4th most played and I feel her movemnet is her kit, she is quick to pick up and hard to master for that very reason. And the way you did talk about movement, was based on her old and none of her new stuff. Skiesti has a pretty good video on her channel about this, especially with regard to the last nerf, I'd say give it a listen, she's a top 500 support main, who makes mercy content.

I play a lot of Mercy, and I got trashed because of people thinking that I act like the bad part (paying for the actions of other, wohooo), and I say this because I honestly don't like how Mercy is in her actual state. At this point as much as I find satisfying the damage boost, I think it should be changed, it would always be really powerful unless it gets overnerfed (to like 15% boost or lower) or gets completely reworked into a cooldown or something like that. Her Valkyre is broken on every single aspect that I don't even know how to call it. It is annoying for the enemy, unfun to fight against, being able to fly around at high mobility and even res at a much lower risk it even more broken than what it looks, the fact that she gets increased healing while using it is broken, being able to give everyone a damage boost is busted, unfun to use in general, I generally like being able to buff a teammate on a game, but for some reason it feels clumsy with Mercy in her Valkyre, the infinite ammo on her pistol I'm fine with it... or I would be if it wasn't because of everything else in combination with this. Res was already strong, but in 5v5 is even more powerful (seriously 5v5 unbalanced a lot of heroes even without direct changes to them) Mercy is a very easy hero to use, probably not the easiest (I still think that Soldier 76 gets that tittle), but she requires a low skill cap, it's true that when you start to play with her it can be a bit complicate to use well her mobility and when to change between heal and damage boost, but you learn very fast how to use well all of that. Honestly, I'm fine with Mercy being easy to use, requiring skill was never a real "disadvantage", the skill is not the problem, but she's just busted because of her kit.
