I finally went for the FIRST TIME, two weeks ago. Oh, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan ... it was THE BOMB! Well worth the two hour bus ride to get there, too. :) :) :) Cuz and I went to the one in Kahuku, right next door to your other favourite place, that "Kahuku Superette" whose poke was outta site! We had the garlic shrimp scampi. It was .... a-maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

Hey mark I'm little late to this video but it's a great one. Question: do you always eat shrimps with the shells? Is it a common way to eat shrimps that way somewhere? Because I've always had to peel it off and I've never heard of it being eaten that way. Best wishes from Kuwait!
@ke28 жыл бұрын
You can eat the shrimp however way you want but when you're eating garlic shrimp, they cook it with the shell and so the shell has the garlic flavor.

I've been trying to decipher this recipe and it seems to me that the shrimp (my guess) is coated with a light (possibly just cornstarch) batter then deep fried. It is then added to the butter/garlic mixture to coat the shrimp. I've not tried this "YET" but judging from the pictures from other bloggers visiting Oahu and enjoying this dish that is what I've gathered so far.
@MarkWiens10 жыл бұрын
I think that's a pretty good guess. They do seem to be in a very light cornstarch so all the garlic sticks to the shrimp. Let me know how your recipe turns out!

Hey Mark! I've been watching your videos for about 2 years now and I love all of them. I never did comment on any of your videos so I thought i'll drop by on this one to let you know how awesome your videos are. I esp love it when you are in India and eat their street food because their food looks just marvelous. Also, you should do some vlogging for examples days that you're not out traveling and eating, what do you normally do in Thailand, what you normally do at home, also i would love you to do more videos where you talk about you and your wife just so we have a connection to you. There are some cute Couples tag videos on youtube where you basically answer some questions about you and your significant other and you HAVE to have her in the video too! I see some scenes where shes in it and she is BEAUTIFUL! would love to see her more, other then that, keep up the awesome work Mark.

Hey, it's great to hear from you, thank you for taking the time to comment. Also, I appreciate your feedback and also your support. Once again, I appreciate you watching my videos!

Hey there Ying & Mark, YES! I LOVE SHRIMP & GARLIC ! I think I'm gunna need a mop & bucket after watching you devour those prawns. The old digestive juices are really flowing. $13 is reasonable I think. Here in Sydney, Prawns that size go for about $25 per kilo uncooked. Did you leave a message on the van? Stay safe. Jim.

Hawaii is expensive. Believe me, it's worth the price. I lived there for many years. He mentioned it's disputed as to which was the first Shrimp Truck; To my knowledge, Giovanni's is 'understood' to be the first (and best). You usually have a line to order but everything is worth the wait. I realize Mark prefers spicy food and this isn't spicy. I assure you, it's worth, what's probably $17 now, and you will get a no ka oi plate of shrimp!

@Beckala675 жыл бұрын
I wholeheartedly agree! I went there yesterday and took my daughter there today. She agrees that Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck is not only $2 cheaper per plate, but it's tons tastier! Their hot sauce is even tamer than Giovanni's, and didn't have a long line when we were there.
