A correction shall be made: as soon as 4 pieces of the same color are lined up next to each other, they must be taken from the board by the one playing with that color. Moreover, not only must these 4 pieces be removed, but so must the pieces that form a DIRECT EXTENSION of these 4 pieces. Note that a vacant spot interrupts a row!

Excellent! I really enjoy YInsh and it's a treat to see how the namesake of the series is played. A succinct review which told me everything I wanted to know - thanks, Ryan!

They are upside-down (as you cannot use the potentials when played like that). It is very nice to see that GIPF is getting some love. Keep up the great work.

damn, recreated the game from memory for a party, and turns out i made a mistake: i somehow got it into my head that the one who makes the turn always takes the row ey makes. so if you aren't careful you can line of three of yours, just so your opponent can finish the row and take all of them (plus extension). i "looked up" the rules online, but not very thoroughly it seems 😅. or maybe it really was another variant, because it said you start with 18 pieces 🤔. anyway, the game was fun that way. but now i'm curious how actual Gipf works.

I think the pieces are upside down. they are easier to pick up the other way. TZAAR pieces have this shape on the bottom. IDK

First you say you need to focus on removing your own pieces and at the end you say you need to focus on removing the opponent pieces? What is it now? Also the example you give with the long row seems impossible for me because they already should have been removed because there already was a row of 4. I never played the game but your explanation is not very clear. Next time maybe do a trial before just recording a not rehearsed session
