99% of those big cats were hunted / made extinct by then colonial British rulers and they have been protected due to Project Tiger and intense efforts of Government of India... There are not illegal immigrants. They are the Siddi tribe who are defendants of people came to India from African continent by India ocean slave trade, as merchants, contract labour etc. Their arrival dates back to 7th century CE. They are all legal Indian citizen.
