Also I disagree with all of them at the end except LOni which is true that they are just kids but what do you think kids think in their minds when they dont see daddy and mommy together anymore? I believe if your the parent you should understand how to discuss this with your child and how much you should say to them until it go over their heads. Children have very imaginative brains and we as parents should see ourselves in their shoes and see what you would want your parent to tell you the reason why mommy and daddy are seperated. The fact is kids are simple creatures just create a story that ends well.

Loni is being unrealistic 1. if you’re a celebrity you don’t have a choice but to tell the kids because they’re gonna hear from you or someone else. 2. If a spouse cheats you’re not going to make up that same night it’s going to take time the kids are going to notice if their other parent isn’t in the home or sleeping on the couch or in a different room. You’re going to have to tell them something might as well be the truth. 3. Kids are growing up a lot faster nowadays they understand way more. So keeping them in the dark or telling them to stay in a child’s place isn’t going to help or solve anything and if the kids at school find out about it and start teasing your child you can’t be mad at anyone but yourself because you put your child in that position totally unprepared.

Kids are so much more aware than people like to think. There's a good chance they already know or at least sense something in wrong and they can start to feel like they are the problem. And even if they don't know , people like to gossip, other children can overhear adult conversation and take that information to your kids at school. I'd rather my kids find out what's going on from their own parents in a way that's not so traumatic. They deserve an age appropriate conversation in a safe place.

Depending on the age of the kids I'd say a discussion is appropriate. Infidelity affects everyone in the immediate family. Kids know when something is wrong. They see and feel the changes in mood. They overhear arguments. In some cases involving infidelity kids are expose to a lot. They might have met the other woman, they might have had to move or relocate because of their parents poor decisions and /or issues. It's important to talk to the kids so they understand they were not to blame. It could help them to not internalize things. It's not just the couple that goes through it, the Family does too.

My mom cheated on my stepdad and they were honest about it i was 18/19 at the time and my mom explained to me why. She explained differently to my younger siblings ages 11-16, and didnt talk to my youngest brother about it at all who was 5/6 at that time. I think they way they did it was perfect, and they worked it out. Now im 24, and its been a seamless relationship since. Honesty is important once you are old enough to understand.

I think the kids should know, kids always suspect when something is going on anyway. However it’s all in the delivery. I also feel that things can turn into cycles and by having that conversation you help teach the kid how to navigate when they are in those types of situations in the future.

That's a hard one. I found out my dad was cheating on my mom through text messages that popped up. He said it never got physical. But who's going to admit to it if you haven't been caught ? I had to tell my mom because I felt like if I didn't he was going to continue. They are still together. And I have never told my siblings about it. I always wonder if I should have.
