As someone who is disabled, hearing their "be what God intended you to be" rhetoric is soo confusing in every respect. If it's God's will that a trans person be what they were assigned at birth, am I, as someone born disabled, supposed to be disabled? If so, how fucked is that? And if not, if God truly doesn't make mistakes and trans people are supposed to submit to whatever gender they were originally, to be "normal" if you will, am I also supposed to somehow shape-shift myself back to "normal"? The math ain't mathing.
@nightshade7240Ай бұрын
It's worse, God made us to be disabled and then they say oh become a xtian and he will make you whole after you die. Like bitch, he couldn't fucking do that before I was born?! Also he's going to take away the whole experience of my life and give me a functional body in the end times? Why the fuck didn't he just make the end times first? There is no teleological value to making so many of us suffer with often agonising disability. How the fuck does that make any sense? How stupid is their god or how callous? It's so easy for them to blather on about this shit because they are pretty and privileged and won the genetic lottery and as a result of that have experienced success. Not because they are talented or charismatic but because they are pretty.

Yes!! Their rhetoric literally would be that we are perfect the way we are (disabled, gay, trans, etc), because god makes no mistakes. However, because they also believe there is a “right way” to be, they’re actually putting themselves and their own interpretation of the Bible over God. They don’t understand that conformism is a man-made belief that often uses the Bible to push its agenda, nor do they understand the experiences of someone who doesn’t fit that able-bodied, cis, straight (and in their cases, aryan and financially privileged) mold. If God truly is the great creator who makes no mistakes, then everyone is perfect as they are. However even that rhetoric is flawed, because it means miscarriages, life-threatening or fatal disabilities, and other premature deaths are also his intentional doing, and that is not a God I would want to worship. Sorry for the rant I just was really interested in the point you brought up

God doesn't make mistakes, yet diseases and pestilences exist. Things break down over time, and the passage of genes from one generation to the next is an information system that is breaking down. A Christian explanation is that death and suffering entered the equation when Adam & Eve first sinned. A science explanation is that entropy occurs. Things flow from an ordered & perfect state into a disordered & imperfect state. Sometimes the diseases occur before birth; other times they occur late in life. Regardless of the body, every soul has equal worth to God. As for trans,... There are a certain amount (it's super small) of people that are born intersex,... where they might have XY chromosomes but other parts of their body aren't able to receive & process the hormonal messaging that should have developed their external parts into fully functioning male parts,... and vice versa. Those are real, and sometimes can be treated to give the person a pretty full & functioning life that matches their XY genes (in this example). The trans stuff, on the other hand, is mental. When someone says they "feel" a certain way inside, it's an unfalsifiable claim. Just start with the fact that most trans people have pre-existing mental conditions. The trans stuff is being marketed to them as a solution for problems it can't actually solve. They overwhelmingly come from houses with liberal/lefty parents. They are more susceptible to the trans messaging (for some reason). (If it was just genetic, it would occur in equal amounts across the political spectrum, right?) Females are also more susceptible to it. (Again, if it was just genetic, it should occur equally among males & females, right?) And trans kids are somehow occurring at higher numbers among actors & actresses,.... (Because it's being taught.) I hope this is helpful to everyone who reads it. God Bless You All this New Year!!

I always find it hilarious when people say, sexuality or gender is a choice. Essentially, they are saying that everyone has a free choice to choose either and that everyone, at some point, must make the conscious decision to choose either side. What this boils down to is they say everyone is sexuality and gender fluid and that they consciously chose - possibly despite feelings not under their control - to take the cis hetero path. Well, I happen to be a cis hetero woman, too, but frankly, I NEVER had any inclination of not being cis nor had I ever any desire to engage in homosexual activity. I never chose to be that way. If you say you do, you are acknowledging you a conscious effort on your part to not go the way you instinctually would go. Why would non-binary and homosexual folk “choose“ that route when I did not “choose“ mine?

It is almost like Kristen and Bethany think the problem with their previous videos was their tone when in reality the problem is the message. Even if we're to buy into the idea that they've become more empathetic about being gay and trans, the main issue is that they're still condemning these people for their immutable identities. As a gender fluid bisexual, who spent a lot of my life living as a closeted "straight man" my experience is that gender and sexuality are not a choice, when it comes to how we are built internally. We can choose how we live, and how we present, and even when it causes us pain and damage and a constant desire to end our lives, we can choose how to act and live. But I certainly didn't CHOOSE to struggle with my identity as a man or my attraction to people other than cis-women. My life certainly would have been simpler and easier if I could have just been the cis-het man I was raised to be and wanted to be. I probably wouldn't have struggled with 4 decades of suicidal thoughts, shame, fear, anger, frustration, guilt, and depression. But no, I had no choice. I just got stuck with these feelings and thoughts and sense of identity. And I have to live with this everyday instead. Thankfully I live in the United States with is so very accepting and understanding of these issues, especially here in the Midwest where there are so many compassionate Christians are willing to let a person be who they are even if it is different than what they expect someone to be. I probably won't be able to finish my transition till 50.... If I make it there. Ijs No one has EVER woken up and "been a girl today" that has NEVER HAPPENED! EVER!
@bobdondaАй бұрын
I regret to inform you that you were correct for the first 28 years, you cannot transform from a woman into a man. That's not a real thing, it's just pretend.

thanks for making this video, jaclyn! the current political environment regarding trans people (and the lgbtq+ community in general) is insane, every day i wake up and see more anti-trans bills signed or learn about the 200 million dollars spent on anti-trans ads during the trump campaign. ive been watching your channel for about five years now and i find that i really appreciate how your channel reaches a variety of political spectrums. i hope that folks on the right or centre are able to watch this and your content and be more open to acceptance and support for trans and lgbt folks despite the current constant political targeting going on. it is incredibly important to combat anti-trans and anti-queer propaganda and i appreciate that this video was made

It’s so weird! When I watched this video, the first thing I thought when I heard Bethany talking about the gay couple was “so you just love them so much that you want to try to get them to get divorced and rip apart that child’s life and parents?”

I feel like they're mainly talking genderfluid, and don't realize about nonbinary and other things
@someonerandom256Ай бұрын
They are well aware of non-binary people. Haven't you heard their ilk sneer at they/them? I was recently stuck living with MAGA people for several months and they watched conservative media every night. I heard non-binary and they/them brought up way more than even just the general "trans." I'm agender and they didn't know and one of them kept talking to me about how ridiculous it is to be binary. Good times.
@RaineInChaosАй бұрын
Bethy is friendly with the creators of Zelph on the Shelf, one of whom is nonbinary (as far as I understand- of course pronouns don’t equal gender) so she doesn’t have any good excuses. She has someone - someone who understands content creation even - who she could ask for help understanding this topic and even for guidance on how to talk about it in videos
@midnightmalice4501Ай бұрын
I told my friend who came out as trans that I don't know if it is something you choose or not. They got really mad at me. And I was like, but.... It doesn't matter to ME whether you choose to be or just are. It doesn't change MY opinion of, you are free to live however you choose to. As long as people aren't harming others, they can do whatever. That's none of my business. (I said that I don't know because it is something that is still being studied. It looks like most people are rather than choose to be, but there are also studies that show that some people maybe choose. The point IS it doesn't matter. It's the same pointless talking point of it people CHOOSE to be atheists or if they just are). And because I choose to not be an asshole, (which actually IS a choice), I treat everyone with the same level of respect they deserve. On a side note, every time I hear a Christian call someone a "sexual deviant" or whatever wording they use I remember that leaders of churches are being arrested DAILY for SA, usually against children.

The crazy thing is, weather it’s a choice or not, none of it is harmful so why would it matter in the end?

The purple top is super cute, but certainly scandalous amongst some Christian circles. It would be so cute over a white turtleneck and with a mini skater skirt, sheer tights, and furry boots. While bookstores are becoming rare, I think they mean bookstores THEY approve of are becoming rare

If God created people who have feelings, then it seems reasonable that he accepts everyone's feelings. And it is just as reasonable to believe God and you know your gender, even if it doesn't match what others would assume.
They're still awful. You were right to call them out on the things that they just make up. But you missed like the most obvious one! They claim they went to a bookstore and read a bunch of children's books about transness. I can guarantee that didn't happen. And their claims of knowing what's going on in public schools? Oh man, I don't believe that.

10:14 I remember being this little girl (not that met Bethany but grew up in. a conservative Christian home, struggling in my identity). The “cultural pressure” was the conservative gender roles telling what women should and shouldn’t be that those women peddle. I support feminine positivity but for all their claims, they get upset when boys and men take part in it too. It shows how fragile their ideology is.

I'm only halfway through but two things that really bothered me more than everything else, they keep saying they're getting this topic in school which isn't true AND they can't even say what they're talking about. They keep saying "this topic" but won't say sexuality or transgender. They're grownups afraid to say the words. How sad.

When I first learned of their videos in 2017, I thought that they're way behind the times, irrelevant and delusional about their importance. But today I know that people like that are more common than we like to admit. I don't ever again expect there to be acceptance of people of non-straight non-binary identities.

On the topic of gender (identity?) being or not being a choice... Isn't it a little like that for non-dysphoric gendefluid people? As far as my understanding goes (I might be wrong) it does feels like "one day I might feel like this, another day I might feel like that".
@bobdondaАй бұрын
It is a choice if you believe that dressing differently and acting differently from other man means that you're a woman now, or vice versa. That simply isn't true, but it is a choice to believe in trans ideology which insists that it's true.
@OrkprofАй бұрын
@bobdonda that's got nothing to do with my question. Anyway, I don't think it's a matter of ideology. You need to understand that biological sex and gender identity are two separate concepts. When you do that kind of reasoning ("Dressing up as a woman won't make you one, you're man and you stay a man") you're conflating those two separate concepts. When a trans person says "I'm a man/woman" they not referring to their biological sex, they're talking about their gender identity. The confusion stems from the fact that, for ages, identity and sex have been locked together in forced pairs, and that we do not have a separate terminology for gender id (some hold that "man" and "woman" refer to id and "male/female" to biological sex, but I don't see much consensus over that). *Especially for people with dysphoria, the need to distinguish those two concepts is no joke or make-pretend.*
@bobdondaАй бұрын
@@Orkprof It is absolutely an ideology. It is a belief system that includes believing that men can transform into women, despite that not being true. It requires believing that personality types and clothing preferences are a "gender" that entitled whole ass men to cheat in women's sports and invade women's spaces. It requires believing that women's rights don't matter and that men in dresses are entitled to do anything they want. BTW it's the followers of trans ideology who mix up sex and gender all the time, they think their clothes make them biologically female, and they think their pretend identity is a biological sex that entitles them to enter women's spaces despite being male. Your hateful misogynist ideology will never be tolerated. Women's rights matter.

I'm spiritual and I belief in a combination of different religions' beliefs. I also see stuff from the Bible as more of an allegory or metaphor for our lives. So, like, i believe that various sexualities and genders etc are valid and also created by God/the universe. I wish extreme people were more like this.

I too am doubting Bethany's story about the 9-yr old asking all those questions, but if we are to assume it's true I can't get past the hypocrisy of being horrified about any 'curriculum' taught in schools, but then also saying 'let me freely impose my beliefs onto you.' The correct response to a 9-yr old is to encourage them to talk to their parents and health professionals about it.
@CGplay186Ай бұрын
@stateofnick Health professionals are part of the system so would say no doing that, hopefully the kid got good parents or is screwed. I find it funny people always ask to seek health professional, you know sometimes people need support from follow men not someone that just see you as a work task.
