He cared more about his reputation & appearance. He was afraid of how the book's subject matter would affect his social life. That's why he called her selfish when he broke up with her. Which was ironic since he was only thinking of himself, not her safety or the safety of the women she wrote about

I wish he had supported Skeeter when the book came out. He liked her because she wasn’t one of the typical girls and was willing to stand up for herself and for what was right. He supported her all the way to her success and then he dropped her like a sack of potatoes. Maybe that’s the red flags she missed in the beginning scene when she meets him.

I wouldn't have lived in MS knowing how different it was there!!

An example of why we don't forget the red flags from the start of the relationship. If they show those flags so early, when the stakes are HIGHEST (still trying to "woo" and "win" the new partner) there will only be that much MORE under the surface to come out later. Like when you reach the height of your success, only to be dropped like a sack of sh1t because they can't handle it. Remember: if you're going to dismiss the red flags at the start, at LEAST put them away in a back-pocket "list" so you can consult later, when things invariably go wrong as will happen the majority of the time people ignore their instincts pointing out a "bad thing". Consult the list EVERY time you feel sh1t turning south, I'm positive you will not only see the red flags still there but that there are now MORE for your list. When the list becomes overwhelming, hopefully that'll give you courage to leave, knowing you made a mistake (it happens, forgive yourself, but do NOT be stubborn - walk away when they show you how sh1t they are!)

It ended being the best decisions they made, for themselves and the other person. It is wrong and miss leading and selfish if you don't speak up before hand. You are hurting yourself and them. one week. i dated him as friends. one week and it's all it took to know he was exactly like this guy. maybe worse. i blocked him. moved on. he blocked me and came back. the second week was him being absent and me blocking him from every place I did not the first time (he won those accounts the first time so I was ready to block him as soon as he would come back) Edit: good grief he really 💀 he came back. I'm writing this 13 days after the original comment: apparently he cannot accept I don't want to be his friend (his definition of friends is being friends with benefits.) I blocked him again.

He did show his true colors when Skeeter found her niche in writing, and was clearly threatened by her talent and intellect. The irony is that he's mocking the very type of "wife" he wants - one he can feel superior to. He's an insecure idiot. Great film: "The Help"

Professional husband hunters... This dude don't know it, but we got straight, married (or formerly married, or soon to be married men in our ranks too. I know four of them. Five, if you count my old supervisor. We used to have another five who quit or got fired for various reasons, with three of those being better job opportunities. More importantly, not all women want to get married. I'm 33, never been kissed, never dated, never partied or slept with anyone. Based on when my roommate and I had only one bed and had to share it, no man would want me sleeping in his bed. I'd break his nose, and not even know about it until he howled in pain. Apparently, I flail. He acts all classy, but his judgement is rubbish.

"where you dropped on your head" I think people forget this is things that actually do happen. Kids fall and bump their heads some more than others. So who's to say it's not playing a part on the person. If you understand head injuries that is or the person could be just have a learning disability. 🤨

Things really changed after the 60's and women for the most part really detest the concept of husband hunting. Job hunting is the rage,.. independent living, I know for me, seeing the stepford wives movie really took husband hunting out of my vocabulary.

I hate fake southern accents so much. I’m not trying to hate on the actors or anything, obviously they aren’t southern and they are just doing what they’ve been taught. I’m sure it’s the same with certain other accents too. Even though I’m not actually deeply offended, there’s always that feeling I get when I hear a fake southern accent in a movie or series or something. Like I’m pissed off but not actually mad, lol idk. I’ve just been getting a lot of reels and shorts come across my social media apps lately that contain scenes from something that has a character in it with a fake southern accent. And I know southern accents are different all across the south. But still….ew, I cringe so much when I hear the fake ones. Montana Jordan, Georgie from Young Sheldon, has the perfect accent. Which of course he’s actually from Texas. And I’m from Mississippi. And we mostly sound like he does. Slight differences here and there. But actors need to just watch a bunch of Young Sheldon and use him as practice for their fake southern accents. Also, depending on how deep you go into the south, depends on whether or not the people pretty much just make banjo noises when they speak. The more south you go, the more Cajun it gets. And I see that mistake made on TV a lot, actors trying to do fake southern accents but not correctly implementing certain sounds and twang from the particular area their character is from. Okay, rant over. 😮‍💨
