Also, invest in one of each type of fire extinguisher - better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

Glad everyone is okay. I made a similar mistake recently, even though i already knew better. poured some water into some hot butter to take the heat down. Glad i instantly realized my wrong decision and pointed it away from me, because a big bubble in the pan popped and splattered some butter on my wall.

The only reasom that worked is because of how little oil was in that pan. Best way to deal with an oil fire, honestly, is let it burn. As long as its not too big, and depending on the pan i guess you could ruin it. But in my cast iron if an oil fire happens, i jusy consider my steaks flame broiled 😂

I thought it was common sense for everybody not to put water on a grease fire🤷🏽‍♂️😭 If you have a grease fire, turn off the heating source and put a cover on it so the fire can’t breathe. I if you put water on a grease fire the water and oil will not mix, causing the fire to ignite even more

When you put water on a grease fire the water sinks. It doesn’t go on top and put it out. Instead put a lid on to lessen how much oxygen the flame gets or put baking soda on it. Make sure to turn off the heat too!

If you are ever in this situation grab any lid thats not flammable and cover it Soo a glass cover or a metal lid whatever as long as it wont burn by doing this the fire will burn up the oxygen inside the pan and it will run out of oxygen fire needs oxygen

Well you just need so much water at such a quick instance that the fire has no more air to work with. Swimming pool with a heavy pan combo does the trick. Water can be used but it needs to be severely overkill. At least 1000 times the mass of the grease and at a very short burst. This water mass needs to be great enough to weigh down the explosive grease shortening its range. Don’t use a cup of water use a wheel barrel
