This breaks my heart. It's too real. My ex husband of 2.5 years was the EXACT same way. I decided to leave him when my father died and he asked me after a couple hours if I'm "going to be over it soon."

Kaley Thornton oh girl. I'm sorry I know exactly how that is! my brother, who was my very best friend in the world and the closest person to me on this planet, committed suicide while I was pregnant with my daughter. I was absolutely devastated! and my boyfriend at the time said "well I mean he obviously wanted to die so I don't know why you're so upset?" I was like are you kidding me right now?!?! I don't understand how people can say such hurtful things especially at a time like that! so glad we are both rid of them!

I think she had love for him, but in love? No. she said she put on a show when the camera was on, because she wanted to set a good example for people who didn’t have a functional relationship to look up to, because of her own father. So she put on a show to be a role model for her subscribers.

I really hope you continue to do these "Girl Talk" videos. You should tell stories about your days as an MUA at MAC and freelance, or stories of you and Jackie! You mentioned doing videos just drinking wine and talking. I think that would be an awesome idea. It helps us get to know your life outside of KZbin and YOU as a PERSON. So many people think things about you that they shouldn't, it's because they don't know you. And this video probably has showed many that you're a person like the rest of us. :) I follow you on Snapchat, so I know for a fact that you're a person too. But talking videos show more of your personality than a 5 minute tutorial. I really hope you continue doing these. They'd be great for when you don't know what kind of video to make, also. It would be awesome to watch one like once a month atleast. I hope you think about it!! - Kelly P.S. LOVE YOU JACLYN!!

+Davanna McCarthy I really hope Jaclyn gets to see this. She says so many haters comment about things like her energy, her changing, ect. But they don't get videos like this or watch her on Snapchat. If we had these types of videos like we do on Snapchat, I think a lot of people would see more of her true personality. You really can't judge someone on a 5 minute video. Or even a 20 minute video, but this video showed SO much TRUE emotion. :)

this was really something I needed to hear. my ex took me on the biggest emotional rollercoaster ride I have ever been on for 6 months. he always got mad at me for no reason, called me all sorts of names, and made fun of my goals and dreams. we recently broke up and he still tries to call me and text me. if been trying to be strong but its been very hard. you just gave me an extra push towards loving myself again. thank you so much! you truly are an inspiration to me.

I'm sure you won't read this. But this video hit home so hard for me. I went through the same exact thing, basically every word. To a point where I just started crying because of how true all of this is. We were the same age for the few years too. I was in such a horrible place, so depressed so suicidal and I thought there was no way out of it. My ex was very abusive, mentally and physically. I hid in my house, I never wanted to go to work, and I never saw any friends or family. This video, helps show me that even if I feel like I'm not going to be able to ever get over that part of my life or that everything that involves him will haunt me forever, I'll be able to move on and make an amazing life for myself. And look back at this and remind myself how stupid I was and how I should have opened my eyes. Thank you for being you Jaclyn you're amazing.

Google Savannah Grey/esteemology narcissistic personality disorder huni, I was stuck in a relationship like this but a lot worse with violence, depression/suicidal thoughts/attempts etc and it was 7 years ago now, I thought the pain & scars would stay with me forever & always haunt me. I have two children to him & been single since & I left him - I left with a 3 year old & 6 month old & was homeless aswell. You will be fine one day & it does become a distant memory, reading about npd at the time made my head get straight as it answered so much about why he did what he did & why I couldn't break the cycle & get away xoxox lots of love - hope it helps xoxox

I had avoided watching this because at the time I was in a toxic relationship and couldn't face hearing the truth. Now it's been two weeks since I've completely cut him off and now I am able to hear what you went through which is almost the identical situation I endured too. Recently I've been healing and have discovered my ex was a narcissist who emotionally used and abused me. I have also found out my history of having an abusive father has played a part in attracting a manipulative partner and having a hard time leaving him. It is a hard thing to accept and heal but I hope you are able to relinquish all the pain from your past and present. We experience these toxic people to wake up and become stronger. Fortunately we have gotten out of it. Love you so much Jaclyn xx

Can't say I've ever felt this emotionally connected to a video and i knew i would bawl my eyes out 20 seconds into it. When you go go through situations similar to yours you feel so disconnected and you doubt that anyone feels anything like you do. As insane as it sounds, I was in this EXACT same situation. Watching this video really brought me back to that moment and those feelings and i wish i had this video when i was 16 years old to watch over and just know that someone else felt that way, and that in fact i wasn't alone. Having someone make you feel so small, and strip your confidence/independence completely is the scariest thing, and i said i would never let that happen, but little did i know i was brain washed and involved in a toxic relationship which did all of that and more to me. Thank you so much for posting this video Jaclyn, you inspire so many people and hopefully this will assist anyone going through similar situations. I am now very happy and moved on from that toxic state of life, and I'm so thankful that somehow i woke up from that horrible nightmare. Jaclyn you are so inspiring. Thank you for all that you do for us strangers who just watch your videos but somehow you still treat us like your best friends. love you girl! Thank you. xoxoxo

Wow. I worked in a shelter helping women victims of domestic abuse, and you describe control, domination, manipulation, and this kind of ''conditionning'' so freaking well. It is incredible. And you never minimise the impact on you or the fact that it is abuse even thougt there were no direct insults or physical violence. You undestood what happened to you so profoundly well. Hope you can help a lot of other girls and women and boys and men who live with someone who need to put them down. Personnaly I would show this to a friend or a future daughter.. I am really impressed.

UGH YOU ARE LIKE THE BIG SISTER I'VE NEVER HAD BUT ALWAYS WANTED. Can I just say, in general you being so honest with all of us is literally an act of courage especially when it comes to personal stories like this. I was in a similar situation once with someone and to just hear this was just such a fresh breathe of air. I think almost every girl goes through this type of person, it's a "first love" thing and we all have to learn somehow. Some us are really strong, but some of us have to learn the hard way. It hurts so much but wow do you learn and the reward you get to letting go of people who aren't genuine and loyal is the person of your dreams. Please do not ever settle, because I truly believe there is a perfect person for everyone. Thank you so much Jaclyn for sharing your life because you really are like a light in this world. I always look forward to hearing from you. I never really feel like a subscriber, I always feel like you're my friend and I thank you for that. It's hard to find genuine people like you in this world, I am just so thankful that a platform like KZbin would create a space where just a great person such as yourself could just share their light.

I've been through this and recently just got out. Wasted two years of my life letting him call all the shots for me and not let me do anything myself. I couldn't dress up, wear makeup, talk to any guys as just friends yet he could do anything he wanted. I was the same as you said you were, I was such a strong independent girl yet when it came to him he just managed to control me in the worst ways. It hurt my mom so much to see all of it and how I was so blinded. Just glad I'm out now.

I've been avoiding this video because I just knew it was going to speak so much truth for me. Thanks for posting! So many women think this kind of relationship is normal, but it's so important for it to be known that we are all more than the manipulation of insecure, controlling men. It took me so long to want more for myself, and the instant that it was really over between me and my ex, I felt a weight rise off of me, and I was able to see with clarity why so many people in my life disliked him for me. I just wanted to say that you're not alone in your experiences, and thank goodness we were able to see the light! 🙌🏽

Jaclyn, I am so incredibly happy you made this video. I can relate to this so much and it is SO RELIEVING (and sad) to know I am/was not alone. The whole time I was nodding my head like an idiot because everything was so spot on! It is so crazy to think how much "love" can blind someone, and it's amazing to see you overcome such an unhealthy relationship and find something so real. Thank you for sharing, and WE LOVE YOU.

Jaclyn I've been a day one subscriber from the start. And I just wanted to say this video changed my life. I've been in a five year relationship, since I was 16 and I'm now almost 22. I was so so so in love with him but no one understood why and I couldn't and wouldn't listen. What they saw was completely different. I wasn't allowed to have friends, and if I tried to hang out with even just my best friend he would start a fight. I wasn't allowed to drink or talk to other boys. He fought with me constantly and his love turned into obsession. When we fought and I tried to leave, he would physically force me to stay even if that meant hurting me or blocking the door. For two months I've been trying to end things and his devastation continues to pull me back in because it's so hard to see him cry and beg and know how heart broken he is. He started going to therapy to get me back but it's too little too late, my feelings changed. This video is an amazing life saver. Thank you, I love you ❤️

jaclyn your demeanor totally changed as you started talking about Jon, your entire being lit up :). Such raw emotions, thank you for opening up as many of us including myself have gone through exactly this. I'm in such a better place now with my current boyfriend and can feel myself light up when i talk about who we are as a couple. you can really feel such a difference when you are truly with your soul mate. the fighting and arguing still happen from time to time but the love always prevails and always takes precedence :)

I've been, or was in a relationship similar perhaps worse for 10 years..I have 2 little girls and I just now with this video realized how much I was being manipulated and still am for leaving him.. since according to him "am being selfish and taking my little girls a chance to grow up in a family".... wow...I just lost 10 years of my life ... but I know for my little ladies, I must be strong and teach them how to be amazing women and never ever hopefully have to be in these types of relationships. love you JH

Yescenia Arteaga "hopefully"?? You'll know a tree by its fruit. Don't commit until you've given him time (at least 6-8 months) for his true colors to come out, whether they are good or bad. And yes, stop the cycle and do whatever you can for your girls. They will learn what's acceptable or not through your teaching and actions. ❤️

Thank you so much Jaclyn. I got out of an unhealthy relationship about 1,5 year. The beginning was Amazing but it slowly got worse. He cheated on me with his ex girlfriend in our bed, he constantly told me my depression wasn't real, he did hardcore drugs, this whole relation has been a lie. We lived together for a year when he told me to move out for a while, which I did. I never heard anything from him again.. I have always said that he still loves me and that he eventually would get back at me.. But now that I saw your video I finally realized that he never really loved me and that it's over. So thank you.

I've been there myself. It is hard to believe outsiders when they are trying to tell you what's going on. You are so in love and wrapped up in this person that you think anyone that is trying to help is trying to tear your relationship apart. Which in turn makes you cling to the dysfunction even more. I'm 33 and I now have 2 beautiful girls 3 & 13. I will be letting my 13 year old watch this to get an outside perspective on this type of relationship and that it's not just mom being mean. I want her to know she's worth so much more than being someones property and that if they truly love her they will never make her feel insecure about herself in any way. Thank you for making this video. You are empowering so many. Love your videos and I love watching your personality. You're so real and raw and yourself. That's what makes your videos so popular. Keep it up! Sending lots of love from Alabama!

Coming from someone who was in the exact same boat as you and Jaclyn for 3 years at the same age, when you talk to him, if he tried to say he'll change or tries to make you feel bad about whatever happened, walk away! The best way to get out of the situations is to GET SELFISH! I know that sounds bad but you don't have to always be selfish but in those situations you do have to be selfish in the sense that you have to know what is best for you and only you and it's probably not this guy you are with right now! There are so many more people out there. People from all over who are so interesting and unique and you will find someone who won't just lust after you but will fight for you! And fight with you, and not just between the two of you, I mean fight your battles with you. He will be right there with you through every hard time and every good time. But this relationship that you are in right now, ask yourself this "does it make me happy?" Only thinking about you. Get selfish for now.

This video is SO cathartic. I finally had the strength to terminate an emotionally abusive relationship (lasted for 2 years) earlier this year in March and I feel incredible. She constantly yelled over me and never let me have a voice. I was insulted regularly and had a ton of passive-aggressive bull thrown at me for the sole purpose of getting me angry just so she could play victim. I was accused of flirting with girls AND boys (definitely hinted at biphobia) and made sure I felt like crap before I went out with any of my friends. I lost all of my friends because of her and it changed me for the worse until I finally realized this person was garbage and I deserved so much better. It really breaks my heart to see other people bent out of shape over a shitty person. I know it's easier said than done, but you should NEVER dedicate your life to pleasing someone else. It's a game to them and it makes them feel good and the more you feed them, the worse they'll become and the harder it will be to let go. We all deserve someone who loves us unconditionally and helps us grow into the best version of ourselves.

Holy. Shit. Jaclyn. I don't care what anyone says, never delete this video. So many people need to see this. Girls so that hopefully they can avoid this happening, and boys so that maybe they will learn not to be shit heads. I was in a dysfunctional relationship for almost 5 years. The things I went through are different from what you dealt with, but the moral of the story is still the same. I honestly still struggle with it, mine has been a lot more recently than yours was, and I can't even describe how thankful I am for this video. I'm sitting here crying typing this. I am so thankful I started watching you two years ago. Your videos have always been a break from reality for me, and now they're helping me with life too. I hope a lot of people gain something from this video like I have, and I hope you continue to do videos like this. I love you soooo much and thanks for everything.

I had my first boyfriend at 17, I was in a bad state of mind, very depressed and suicidal and just wanted someone to love me. I rushed into the relationship. A month after we started dating he raped me. And continued to sexually abuse me for 3 more months. He manipulated me, he made me think what had happened was "normal" and that it was MY fault he raped me. I was so blinded wanting him to love me that I didn't even see the abuse in front of me! I remember coming home after one night after and just crying wondering why? Why was I feeling like this? He had me so confused I was blaming myself. Finally I remember one day I just looked at him and I was so disgusted. At that time I didn't know why, but deep down I knew what had happened was wrong, everything finally clicked. I ended things with him right after that. I even tried to go back once....that's how messed up I was! But then the truth set in, and dealing with that fact of what happened to me has been the hardest thing of my life. I even confronted him and he STILL blamed me for it! I am happily married now with a 6 month baby boy, but what my ex did to me is always there, it never truly goes away, you just learn to live with it. I have excepted it's not my fault and I have moved on with my life. If I could help another 17 year old not make the same mistake I did, or be a encouragement to help someone else who has gone through the same thing, I would know what I went through had meaning.

It's actually a relief hearing this story, because I was going through something similar at one point. But I definitely learned my lesson. I actually remember my mom told my dad "she just broke up with so and so..." and I was pouring down crying. And my dad said "I know she'll be fine and this might not even be the last time she will be crying over a guy, there's plenty more out there." I was livid lol but he was right, I did get over it when I thought it was the end of the world.

+lauren goodwin You're like me when I was 15 (about 6 years ago). I was just like, what's the point? I had several friends that were not in good relationships and it was just so unappealing. During lunch one day I found one of my friends of 6 years bawling because she and her boyfriend of a year or so had just broken up. They ended up getting back together later that day. High school already comes with so much drama! Why add more? To this day they're still on and off and very dysfunctional...we're no longer friends. I found out that she was not who she said she was and she made so many foolish decisions that she didn't think much of. I was always the person that put more effort into our friendship. It was time to end that.

I started to cry because those feelings that you expressed where the exact same for me. It's crazy how you say we can get caught up with our feelings that we don't rationalize the relationship. Yep I wasted years of my life . Suffered from anxiety because of that relationship. Now I'm in a wonderful relationship with a man that gives me my place, loves me and treats me with respect. My ex is recently married and still calls me telling me he misses me and loves me. I bump those breaks so quick . His disgusting he makes me sick to my stomach and I feel for his wife. He makes me love my boyfriend even more and see how lucky I am to have a man like him.

I just came across this video, and it made me cry. It reminded me so much of the relationship I just recently got out of. The way you were talking about this sounded exactly like me.. every single word of this video. It is amazing how people can have power and control over you. I believe that when you think that you have your whole future planned out with someone, and something bad happens, it doesn't matter. You are just willing to accept/forgive to keep the fantasy alive.. you are willing to completely morph yourself to this person and do anything to make them happy because you love the good times of the relationship. This was very heartbreaking for me to listen to, but it made me smile in the end, because you gave me hope. It made me feel like I'm not so alone. Thank you so much 💙

I went through something extremely similar to yours which also lasted 3 1/2 years and watching this made me cry because you were so honest about all that you went through and how you wish you could have told yourself the things you know now. I wish I could have seen all the horrible things he did to me way before I wasted three years of my life but I was only 15 and that's what happens when you're young, you just don't realize those type of things.Thank you for being so open about your past; it makes me realize that I wasn't the only one who went through a dysfunctional relationship. You're incredible and you should never change who you are. Your video has given me a lot of confidence and inspiration to always be myself and to stand my ground. Fortunately for me, I have found an incredible person who loves me for who I am and isn't hurting me like my ex used to do. I'm glad you found Jon; you deserve the best. Thanks again for this !

I'm glad that you talk about how you got sucked into that even though you are generally a strong person who speaks her mind, isn't afraid of confrontation and everything. I feel like I never let anyone else disrespect me and won't put up with BS, I am bluntly honest, not afraid to speak my mind, not afraid of confrontation....and yet somehow...I can't seem to get out of an abusive, on/off (to an extreme level, like 2 weeks together and then a month or so apart...over and over), toxic relationship. It has been 3 years. The worst 3 years of my life! I am trying to be done forever this time. Wish me luck...

wanna know why u cant let him go? well its because he is the only person that disrespects you an because of that u think that if I let him do this to me he must be something special but no hes not!!!! your special your better your what matters!!!! he belittled you so much you believe it!!! its a high its not real!!!! you are addicted to a lie... when someone emotionally abuses you it is a addiction... cut it out ... you are worth it.. don't let someone make you feel like your worth is only what he gives you.. love is a lot more then a chase....

Oh man girl this really truly hits home. I have been going through the same thing for the past 5 years! It sucks so bad being manipulated and brought down so much you feel like the worst person on the planet and the person who is making you feel that way is the only one who will actually ever love you. It sucks so much and it has taken 2 years of counseling and one really really bad fight to finally realize it. And the funny thing is is his name is Mark I was like oh my its like shes reading my brain and knows what i have been going through! Thank you for posting this! I just love you and needed to here this also!! 💟

I can't tell you how much this video reinforces to me my own decision to leave a dysfunctional relationship. Extremely similar to yours, and when I finally realized that I was done, I was DONE. Thank you for being so open about something that not many people feel comfortable talking about🙏🏼

This reminds me sooo much of my relationship when I was 18-20. He acted the exact same way, always threatening to break up with me, and when I after 2 sucky years finally got the balls to break up with him he was clinging on me like his life was depending on it. I also wish the whole relationship didn't happen but it did make me stronger!

i think we've all had that "why did i put up with this shit" relationship where, looking at it years later, we would never put up with that again, but it's just a learning experience that we all go through. makes us all stronger in the end!
