As a 65 year old Londoner, to me this song is about the greatest and most moving British single of the 1960's. Unfortunately, you have stopped it so many times for so long that you have stopped its flow and effect. Clearly at least one of you did not want to listen to it, judging by the number of times the song was stopped ("oh, oh, brass, I bet he stops it").. You have spent almost 10 1/2 minutes talking and mostly putting down this song video, which only last 3 minutes, Why the hopeless comments about the visuals e.g. about the Charlie Chaplin dancer, the frilly shirt, and the girl at the end, when you are supposed to be reacting to the music ? Why not listen to it, instead of debating what style it is ? Disappointed with your video, difficult for me to watch without getting annoyed at what you were saying. I would recommend no more than 3 - 4 short pauses, to mainly talk about the music, in your future reaction videos if you want to build up a following. Longer pauses just destroy the effect of the song.

I lasted for five minutes before I could take no more, you stopped for about two minutes after about ten seconds of the song, it's a great song from a very young group of musicians, I am glad that back when this song was released we didn't stop it every few seconds, we listened to it, we danced to it, we loved it, we enjoyed ourselves, you should try doing the same.

Steve Ellis the lead singer is a Soul Boy and the band have 60's Mod hair cuts. He is still touring and has just released another album. I suggest you research the Mod movement and you might understand why they dressed like that and had their hair cut like it.

As a 67 year old Londoner ignore previous comments as I understand this particular video is almost impossible to upload in its entirety without KZbin blocking it. In the sixties, music classification was a lot simpler. Anything in the Top 30 was just referred to as Pop Music. Anything like Motown or Stax was called Soul and anything like Desmond Dekker (from Jamaica) was called Reggae. Easy eh. Then along came the likes of Cream and Hendrix and so Rock music was born. King Crimson saw the birth of Progressive Rock and then we heard Sly & The Family Stone and Superstition by Stevie Wonder and that was called Funk! Anything by Pink Floyd (late sixties) was Psychedelic Rock and when Psychedelia sort of finished everything like that morphed into Prog Rock. As you can see in the space of only a few years music exploded into a myriad of new genres and I guess then, armed with tags for just about all the new genres, people started revisiting older sixties music and reclassifying it. Folk Rock, Singer-songwriter, Blues etc. The Beatles in the beginning were just Pop but Revolver / Sgt Pepper was Psychedelic Pop whereas The White Album would be considered Rock. Cream and Led Zeppelin were rock but now considered Classic Rock. This particular track was a great cover version of Robert Knight’s original. UK artists did a lot of that as in cover original Stateside songs. Indeed US blues artists inspired many British artists looking for a heavier sound. Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones are prime examples. Nowadays of course, so many artists cover a multitude of genres. The Rolling Stones originally a ‘Pop’ group later became a ‘Rock’ band. In the sixties Rock ‘n’ Roll meant somebody like Bill Haley & The Comets or Chuck Berry. I would conclude by stating these are my views as a then teenager living through it all from a UK perspective. Things might have been different in the States. Was Motown as popular in the States as it was in the UK for example. It was absolutely massive over here, Temptations, Four Tops brilliant acts. Hope this hasn’t confused the hell out of you. I’m gonna fix myself a whiskey or something after all that!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that. I love hearing the perspective of all my followers, especially since it was so personal to you. I think it's so interesting that the UK groups were covering stateside groups, because I think the stateside groups weren't as big over here. Instead, when the British Invasion happened, the UK groups really led the way to introduce the US groups to the large US population. Thanks again for watching my video, hope you had a great drink 🍺

Steve Winwood's older brother produced and Kiki Dee was one of four female back-up vocalists. Video was not live, but airguitar, however Steve Ellis is NOT lipsyncing in the video, so I'm told....and the dancers, well it was the 60's. You dig man?

Where do we start with your comments they reflect two people who have not got a clue and typical know all Americans. Several points 1. Wonder why you never spotted the drawing of LBJ 2. The lead singer was just turned 17 3. The drummer was 14 4. It was a cover, the original cover by the Love Affair did not sound right so a second version - this one with the 40 piece orchestra- was commissioned. 5. This version is more of a Motown sound than anything, sort of White Soul. 7. The finished arrangement was released in 1967 not the 1970’s 8. The film was made for Austrian TV 9. The lady with the bowler is Dolores Schminder a famous Austrian performer and she is still with us. 10. The other lady is listed as Kerry Ellis 11. Why are these 2 women in the film, ask the director, this sort of film was a regular style at the time. 12. I expect you were not alive in the 1960’s and would not understand what was going on!!

Yes also excelent, just as good -- however from a different listening opinion, this has been slightly Transfgormed into a Dance Disco style,excelent for its Styling, However from the Love Affair a more maybe serious pop style version,--- my words have nothing to do with my Personnal taste,im just giving a true view to the song, as stated im myself an Ex. pretty Succesfull Musician/Frontmann, who has in his Lifetime also had a medium world success, and also made a good Contribution to the International Music Industry History Archives, -----ive crossed mayself virtually through almost every Modern day Music style in my Lifetzime, im even today Still high up on tzhe International Prto Level, Having also been classed as just one of a Number of the true Pioners of the N.W.O.B.H.M 1977-1986 again another compleatly different aspect of such music scenes as this great past U.k Chart Hit of the late 60´s, yes ive got it since day 1 of release on the market, its not overall my Personnal Stylbut even then ive all the LOVE AFFAIRS Releases, iver even got this U.s Discvo Version, wehy because its good, ------------- they cant be compared to one another, with harsh critic, they are ssimply different. and the musician contents are simply different although truly the same song. It´s all truly down to Personnal taste,whatever the outcome both versions are played good within their own right. however STEVE ELLIS (Love Affair) is only just 16/18 years or so and the drummer was only a young boy. so all my credit guys, for that great 60´s Period of britt pop, and a bloody good voice from Steve.-- i tremember buying somewhere around the same time --- the u.k chart hit songs back then CALL ME NUMBER 1 (The Tremeloes) MELTING POT (Blue Mink) and if i remember rightly I WANT YOU BACK from the Jackson 5 hell songs back then where so very Original in melodys and styling.

No difference between the 2. Exact same tempo, only difference is the copy version has the chorus at the start, so I don't know what you're babbling on about, one being better than the other. But credit always goes to the original artist.

@helgar791 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bpg5012trick According to you tempo is everything. It's not. The differences are again, as I stated. Carl Carlton is a far better singer. It's not close. He has more range, more control, a better vibrato and a better timbre. And he shows all of that in his version. His song is better produced, his has more dynamics, musically and vocally, and the song itself has more fire. Because many of you heard this pale version first hardly puts it in the same league as Carlton's.
