Great video, there are two routes from Alfriston and I would recommend taking the opposite one to the one you took, across the Seven Sisters. It's harder work, but it's easily the most spectacular part of the whole walk

Looks like a very fun trip! It is great to have a partner along who provides support but also gives you space to take in the experience on your own. I always appreciate your editing in giving us a sense of the land and the animals you encounter along the trail.

Takes me back to my uni days about 20 years ago, hiking the South Downs with a group of friends and my then-girlfriend ... wild camping in a field, getting wet in the rain. Loved every minute of it! It's nice to be reminded of those days. Enjoy it while you can!

Well done to you both. I aim to carry on early April 2024. I will be going from The Sustainability Centre, East Meon. I did Winchester to there in 2 days but had to pull out due to injury. Wish me luck, this local man (West Sussex) in his 50's. I liked the way you put your recordings together; thanks for sharing. All the best, K

That is a beautiful hike-thanks for sharing! Darn Tough socks are Vermont's gift to the hiking world and they mean what they say when they advertise that the socks have a lifetime guarantee. I have sent worn pairs back to the company and promptly received new replacements, no questions asked.

I really enjoyed that Becky. I also did the SDW in April and in the same sort of time as yourself. I agree about spring being a good time to do this trail; the colours, sunshine and new life everywhere was just awesome. As I went early April, I hit that cold snap and it got very cold!! Soon warmed up though later on. Thanks for bringing back the memories for me. Great vid and new sub here - ATB, Ben (Londoner Outdoors)

Georgeous, almost home turf! Thanks for sharing, Becky! I love Downsland landscape and this is a classic, quintessential representation of southern England. The historic little villages are just beautiful. I thought that you looked fit, but I guess bike fit rather than backpacking fit then ? So pleased that you managed to find weather window as winter begrudgingly gave way to spring. It's been so slow and wet. North Downs way next ? I don't know much about that one. The Weald really intrigues me as well.

Don't feel to bad about the trail it's a total assent of 3500m which is equivalent of walking up Snowdon from Llanberis 3.6 times over 100 miles. I've done it 4 times now and each time I forget how hard it is.

I think the cycle route to the end was taken here, same as Hazey. The seven sisters route, for walkers, is the climax to this walk. I can't imagine you walked that part and didn't film it. No bother, easy walk to get back to. My first multi day hike and I was seriously bored of chalk and flint by the end of it. Probably will walk it again.

Hi guys. Just calling in from Nz. So many great walks you have eh.? Google what we have down here. Milford, Routeburn, and many others. A lot are up above the bush line. (Tiger country) That's a nickname for tough going. Degree of fitness has to be good. And yeah approaching my 77th summer, is a bit tough for me now. Possibly doable?? Um this rehydration subject is interesting. My dad was in the desert during ww2 and to keep rehydrated they just drank water when thirsty, not because someone in a lab coat said, and had salt tabs. As far as we know, his kidneys functioned ok. My recommendation would be to start your day with tea. Not coffee. Coffee affects your bladder. Suggested reading on the subject..."117 Days Adrift" by Maurice and Marilyn Bailey. Available water ran out, so they caught turtles and drank the blood. Of course turtles don't swim up and ask if you're thirsty. You grab when avaliable. Yeah so start your day with tea, and you'll be fine. Love your channel. Keep em coming. Maybe see you down here. Take care.

Hi Becky, Started watching your videos a few weeks ago with your one of your first videos, The West Highland way which I am a big fan of and have done 3 times in the ladt 3 years. Couple of questions please if you could spare the time to answer. You have done some truly amazing hikes, and i say that as someone who only started big through hikes at the age of 60, yes seriously, Firstly why was this hike the hardest 100 mile hike and... was there any issues wildcamping on this route as we all know technically wildcamping not allowed in the UK
