Such a pleasure to sit through this journey with you. From your school friends popping up to your camp after school. Working towards your DOE Award. The local and national hikes. The cycle adventures, camp builds, some great friends along the way. You have grown, your mindset has found strength, your courage(hey bear 👀) is second to none. Finally your ability to tell a story and talk to your audience has become more natural. Travel safe. I can't wait for the next adventure.

I have to keep reminding myself that I’m not watching a documentary of some kind. It’s you and all just you. All the shots, the footage, all of that putting the camera here, doing that, going back and getting the camera……putting it over there….another shot……all that effort…..amazing. I really applaud your efforts. Amazing. Inspiring. 🙏🏼

My Dad was Canadian and I was conceived in Canada born in England. My great grandmother was a cree indian bought off an Indian reservation by my great grandfather . Becky, I will have to say "you are one of a kind", there are not many people that would attempt a journey that you have just completed, solo, in a foreign country, literally miles from any assistance, you rock girl. This has to be one of many videos that you have posted that I find I re-watch several times. You have a way of presenting yourself and your journeys that, for me are mesmerizing, and I can't seem to get enough of you. Take care, Becky be safe and continue to live your marvelous life.

The one thing my dad taught me before he passed was that life is like a toilet roll...the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes. ❤You are an amazing young lady! I’m 70 years old and have daughters that loved to hike in the Mountains during the winter. We were from the South that didn’t experience snow so we were always in survival mode and loved it. Most of our friends called us insane, yet pushing yourself beyond the normal is exhausting but thrilling. Most won’t go there from fear but what you learn about yourself and the confidence is life changing. I did have outdoor training being in the Army as an infantry soldier and this helped me train many young people who wanted to experience our trips. Preparation is key in these expeditions and your video’s show others how important a successful adventure can be. I admire your strength, courage and commitment. I can’t wait to watch your next adventure.

That was a loon calling as you started on your third to last portage? You must be so proud. It takes so much confidence and courage to do what you did. Beautiful place to wild camp. I relate to what you said about time, pursuing the life we not only enjoy but thrive living. When I was your age, 20 odd years ago, I traveled the world for a year. It is what I reflect upon the most as I age. Those experiences will stay with me forever and made me a better person. You are so wise to understand this as you live it. You have inspired me to seek out more adventure..despite the mundane obligations that make me feel stuck.

@@christianb8228 No one in BC thinks it's the whole country (although some in Vancouver think it's the whole world). I'm not from BC originally, I've lived in 3 different provinces, I've explored around quite a bit, including some of the north. It's all been amazing. I didn't mean she fully experienced Canada, I meant she fully immersed herself in the Canadian experience in the time she had here. I can't believe I have to rationalize for a second whether someone from Ontario might feel left out if I thank someone for sharing their Canadian experience.

What a wonderful video. It brought back many memories of my time in the wilderness. I first went with my father at the age of 4 years. I went with a mate at 14 years old and continued until I was about 63 or 4. It's a powerful thing you've discovered and you're absolutely right: it put things in perspective! Good for you doing this as a solo trip! That takes some chutzpah! I'm 70 now and still love to camp in lonely places but I've traded my canoe for a car these days. Bravo.

If you're looking into another multi day canoe trip in British Columbia, you should look into the Bowron lake chain. It's quite a ways north of Vancouver taking Highway 97 to Quesnel and then east on the road to Barkerville. Bowron lake is past the historic Caribou gold rush town. The best thing about the portages are the hard ones over at the beginning.

Hi Becky, two weeks ago as I sat down to watch some KZbin, up popped your Powell River canoe adventure. The spooky thing was it was five years to the day since my son, James, and I did the exact same canoe trip (although we did the Beaver Lake middle section). We had weather just like you and loved every second of our adventure. Of course I immediately sent Christie the link to your video (Mitchell's canoe hire). Your film made me shed a little tear of joy and thankful memories of the views, camp spots and the glory of James and my, Father & Son, adventure. Respect and thank you for putting together such a great film. We are privileged humans to have experienced the Sunshine Coast in such glory👏 This is a very happy Bunny saying... Thank you. 🐰

For a 21 year old, you certainly have been shown many things. You've only seen the west coast. There is Ontario's wilderness to see on a slow pace. There the lakes and portages take you back in time, especially in Northern Ontario. I am disappointed that the Outfitter gave you that cumbersome canoe, and with a useless keel. You did not need that. Also, the PFD should have been suited to your build. They can be fit to you snuggly. Why the Outfitter was so sloppy, it baffles me. I am glad you enjoyed your short trip, Beckie. I am 68 years old, and every trip into the wilderness is still a new experience that creates a desire to remain there. It's brand new every time. You are not alone. The solitude does teach you a lot about yourself. And, it's shown you that you can.

I’m planning a similar journey myself in Algonquin. Your trip has got me super psyched for my own solo trip next year. So pleased you enjoyed your canoeing trip and I’m looking forward to watching you on more of em in the future. However I hope you treat yourself to a few un filmed trips so you can truly soak up the experience without having the pressure of filming. Those portages would be a hell of a lot lighter too.!!😰😂 Stay safe and all the best. Mike

Time is fleeting, I'm 75 and been in the mountains for 50 years + and still out there doing it, being a guide and instructor. I will die in the mountains, for they have seen me grow old. One day I will no longer be able to do it and the young ones will take up the challenge, and so the wheel turns. Well done, Becky, for you are answering the call. Do not stop, you will become fit, and your health will keep you in good stead for your later years. All that you have done and will do in the outdoors, I have done, and I do not regret it one bit. Keep them legs 'a movin'. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺ '.

I'm glad you got to experience some of my backyard in Powell River, it really is beautiful in the backcountry here ...so many lakes , 32 of them in the area , noticed you found the hut at Powell Lake, Fiddlehead Landing Hut, that cougar sign has been up a while now...yes we do have lots of wildlife comparative to the UK, especially on the predator side lol...in fact someone caught 5 cougar together on a trail cam this summer....they aren't known to travel that many deep but it was a mom and her cubs , though good size they were .....starting to see more grizzly activity too which from afar is fantastic , not an animal one wants to encounter up close lol glad you had a nice journey on our canoe route as well...some of those portages are a pain in the ass

Ps., In 2003 I camped in a forest on the North Rim of Grand Canyon, on Saddle Mountain. By my campfire, I heard horrendous screaming. A cougar was nearby, I slept in my truck that night !

I'm impressed you made it to Powell River, most Canadians don't. You've gotta do the SCT next. I'm surprised they didn't give you a 14' solo prospector. Clipper makes one and it's excellent. 42 lbs in duraflex I believe. It's weird to have a rudder, I'm not sure why they did that.

Wonderful, wonderful content and relatable on so many levels! I grew up in northern California and had the luxury of spending summers as a teenager backpacking all over the Sierra and Coastal Ranges in the state. Went to college, moved to the Bay Area to work in technology (software development), married and raised a family (my daughter is your age) and all of a sudden I'm 60 years old--no idea where the time went. My only regret is that I haven't spent more time outdoors on adventures such as yours, but I'm trying to make up for that now. Thank you for sharing your inspiring words and video!

When we did the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, we had a cougar walk round our tent on the beach at night. Could see the prints in the sand in the morning. You’d have loved it! 🤣

Love your enthusiasm for the outdoors and wilderness! I've been on backcountry solo canoe trips and I can tell you the wind is the hardest challenge you'll face when you have to paddle against it and the biggest danger in the waves it can kick up. And wow, those portages you did, yikes!
