You really improved your Cantonese rapidly. You're right that knowing Mandarin helps, but there is still a big difference between the two. Some words like taiyang for sun and mingbai or mingbak for to understand can be similar, but overall the two dialects have distinct differences, which makes what you've done in progressing impressive.

I find that many foreigners who speak Mandarin well find it hard to speak good Cantonese ... you have to practice with native speakers more

Curious, besides English, and the 4 languages here in the video, what languages do you speak? Which of the Asian languages would you say was easiest to learn?
