Ehhhhhhhh........that's the stereotypical assumption. I've seen a lot of interviews of Japan and America. Japanese men prefer very thin women. Their standards on what "fat" is is very different from America. A normal, healthy girl for the US can be seen as chubby for them. I've seen interviews where Japanese men have also answered wanting women with a big butt or boobs. So American men are not alone in that xDD

@aquarius5719
@aquarius5719 3 жыл бұрын
That is not inherently bad. But when they seek to reproduce mom and dad, you need to learn how dad and mom interact in the worst moments because they will imitate their interactions. Divorced or hostile couples with sons or daughters who seek mom and dad will end up taking revenge against dad or mom. And by learning toxic interactions and normalizing them by imitating dad and mom, a divorce is guaranteed.

Equality and respect... Sure... Because girls are treated so equal in Japan. Girls here will put on an act just so that guys like them - I.e. Act like they don't know certain things, or acting "considerate" like the one guy says. But it doesn't mean they are this way... It's just a technique. Hope one day girls can be liked for who they really are.
@Fritha71
@Fritha71 7 жыл бұрын
Western guys do the same for girls in places like the States... Remember, girls want to be treated like princesses and put on a pedestal so the guys put on an act everytime they try to get a date and that continues well into the dating; spending money on her, showering her with compliments, listening to her babbling for hours on end, lol. Making the girl feel like she is the center of his world and that everything revolves around her. No different, really.

+ pinkowarumono please, you need to be liked to survive in this society. unless you are born with a wonderful personality, most people at least need to learn to make it seem like they have a wonderful personality. trust me, the world would be a mess if people behaved in public the same how they behave at home.

I think people who are popular in America are those that are reliable. If you ask if someone can babysit your pet while you're out of town, or help out by giving you a ride home from school. Little things like that make people impressed i think. And you start wanting to spend more time with people like that and reciprocate the favors because they're reliable and trustworthy! I also think in terms of high school (Im 24 so i graduated a long time ago) but back in those days, i always saw the people who were in sports, especially those who stuck with that sport all through Jr High and High school, those boys/girls were very popular. Especially because they are representing your school in competitions, so, of course you would want to cheer them on and wish them to do well for your school! I think that would tie aswell into being Reliable!
@dumarahm
@dumarahm 7 жыл бұрын
Well here in the States its a lot more difficult. Mostly EVERYONE judges you on appearance alone. They don't care if you're nice or noticable. You just have to look pretty and then thats where you get all the attention. That's what kind of is shameful because there is more to people than just looks. And because of this belief it brings everyone's self-esteem down and makes them feel out-of-place or mainly not noticed at all. If all the guys in Japan are like the ones that were interviewed then that would definetly bring a girl happiness not just popularity. Mostly Everything in the United States revolves around popularity and looks and most do not care about personality......

The guy that wants consideration though -.- He's like the stereotypical "My girlfriend should serve me tea in the restaurant" kind of guy in Japan. He wants girls to "consider" him and love him, but is he going to do the same? Is he going to serve cake to his girlfriend too sometimes, or does he expect the girls to be doing those things every time?

I am from Portugal, and here for most people of my generation, we appreciate people who are themselves. Ofc, not like complete total weirdos who have no notion of politeness and behaviour. In general you will get anyone's attention if you can have a good conversation. We don't appreciate acts - behaving in a certain way to get someone's attention. Don't act dumb if you're not, bc eventually people will notice that it was just an act and be disappointed that you had to lie to others and yourself.

I think at my school boys like girls that understand them and care for them. But mostly looks lol. For me personally I usually do personality because looks do not define a person, personality does, because people can't really choose how their face looks or hair or whatever you think isn't normal about them. I mean sure you can choose your clothing style,hairstyle,piercings and tattoos whatever else but still does that really tell you what the person is like? I go by this thinking because eventually you could learn the person you thought was ugly or someone who looked mean or unapproachable could have the same likes and dislikes as you and you'd actually be great friends.

Seriously, their answers show that they don't really know anything about women and they are totally disconnected from the real world. No women is like that anymore, it looks like their opinion about women are stuck in the 80s. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for a western women to date on of them. They are only talking about what the girl can do for them and not the other way around. Love is about sharing things with each others and completing each other but when I hear them talking it's not what I feel, their point of view is very self-centered. I feel like they are talking about the new employee they want to hire.

They're being asked what makes a girl popular to them, so I think it makes sense they're not talking about what they'd do for other girls. Besides, there are plenty of Western women who are considerate of other people, listen to them when they talk, and have unique personalities.

Why don't more western girls wear skirts like japanese girls do? Also why don't western girls have hair bangs? I think front bangs look really cute on girls, instead girls just sweep their hair to the side or to the top.
@AnruiMurasaki

I think it's because it's difficult to have front bangs when your hair is curly/wavy. For japanese girls is easier because their hair is straight.

I guess it's just that the style over here is skinny jeans and cute off the shoulder tops which is really popular. Where i am from, skirts are seen as childish and I think people just find a more mature and laid back look is cooler than all girly with skirts n shit.

Bangs were popular in the 90s. I think it's just a matter of changing hair trends. They'll be back soon just like they were for a brief time earlier with the post-2000s indie hipster trend lol.

Because of cowlicks. Also straight perms are cheap in japan so if someone does have a cowlick it's easily fixable in Japan. Most Japanese guys (as in, 99% of the ones I've met) don't like bangs though.

You know it’s hilarious because the moment in my life I was the most popular with the boys was when I didn’t give a damn about looking pretty, didn’t take good care of my health, was not very talkative, had a stoic face, casually swore like a sailor, never went out, didn’t care about dating, only cared about playing video games, never attended sport classes (because of bad health), haunted the hallways like a ghost and was sassy af. I also was attentive to others, was artistically-inclined and very well-mannered toward my classmates (pulling chairs for the girls, etc…) and professors. I’m not gonna lie I had good points. Still, everyone agreed to say I was strange and outcast. I was creepy let’s be honest. And yet, three popular females were kinda fond of me, finding me kind, cute and funny ??? Stranger even : one of the three most popular guy in high school pulled me into a love triangle because the most popular girl liked him very much, he liked her but was more interested by me. Ayo what. I didn’t know what to do, I wasn’t feeling the same so I just turned him down. He looked down. I felt like I should comfort him but didn’t know what to say. And things got even more confusing. The second most popular guy said he held respect for me. One day he asked for DATING advices because he had troubles with his gf. Bro what the shit. Do I not look like I’ve never dated before ? And it got even better 😂 the third most popular guy - the three of them hanged out so they knew one another - actually fell in love with me. Although I ignored him, hit him with my ruler when he wasn’t on his best behavior, exchanged insults with him. The boy was a football player, his former girlfriend a local-rewarded swimmer. She was sitting behind me in class. Her ex was at the front table, hitting on me. I was 🧍‍♀️ "Is she currently wishing me ill ? I didn’t do anything for it to happen. Don’t murder me please." Everybody found him hilarious, even I though I wouldn’t admit it. And one day he looked so nervous to know what I thought of him ?? His best friend asked me because he, who was entirely shameless, was too shy. His best friend even hit on me for him by saying things like "If I had to pick a girlfriend, I’d pick you" while giving glances to his friend. My brain stopped working. I was the WORST dating candidate. No experience, not interested at all, not feminine. For a moment I thought they were pulling a prank on me. But then a few weeks later he came and awkwardly asked me out. I truly felt as if I couldn’t understand what was going on through these teenagers’ brains. You know, I’m not particularly pretty. I have no curves at all. One day he tried to pester me with that fact. As usual, I ignored him, he kept talking. Then, out of nowhere, he ended up saying that I was actually beautiful. And I was very confused. How much can a man change his tastes ? Just how ? It wasn’t that I lacked self-love, I was simply aware of how non-dateable I was. And why was he attracted to me ? We were nothing alike. There were other examples of boys during this period, also very confusing to me. Thinking back, I believe they were attracted to my no-bullshit attitude. They probably thought me mysterious with my loner personality. Apparently people are attracted to this kind of things. So yeah, it’s kinda funny how according to these interviews I was unattractive but sorta popular despite myself lmao

I really don't know if my body type will be accepted very well when I go on exchange senior year (12th year), I am 5'8 (172 cm) and I weigh about 122 lbs (55 kg). I will defiantly stand out as a foreigner and I'm most likely going to be way taller than most of my Sensei's even so I am quite frightened. I do want to find some close friends, and/or a significant other. I'm going on the year long stay, so regardless it'll be a learning experience. Who knows maybe i'll move there?

Aww these boys are so sweet lol I came from the Asian Boss video about Ideal Girl type of Japanese men and I gotta say this is a complete contrast to the answers from the Japanese guys in the other video. Lol not trying to bash Asian Boss' video on the Ideal type of Japanese men but the answers here are so much more realistic just with a different title 😂 Especially the guy at 1:07 ahaha that's an ideal type response right there

In my country during the summer time, which only lasts about 3 months you have to walk around almost half naked to be recognized by guys :'D To become popular you have to show some cleavage, wear a crop top exposing the whole belly, mini shorts that expose parts of your butt cheeks or wear skintight leggings. Personally I don't do that and people think something is wrong with me, but I just don't see the appeal. Seems to me like some kind of frenzy like they're trying so hard, because the rest of the year it's too cold and dark for anyone to really care. I truly get that guy in the interview who said he didn't like it when too much skin is exposed. Overdoing it makes you look cheap and it's not like our value as women comes from the way our body looks.
